The Trail Had A Golden First Week
August 20, 2016
Dear Timberwolf Families,
We had a great first week! Our Timberwolves are getting back into the swing of things at school and we are looking forward to an excellent year. As a parent, you can help by encouraging your child to get off to a good start with completing assignments, being involved in class, and being prepared each and every day. It would also be helpful to review with your child our school rules regarding absences, tardies, cell phone use, and dress code.
School Improvement Council (SIC) Nominations
The School Improvement Council (SIC) is an advisory body consisting of parents, teachers and community members. The BTMS SIC supports the educational environment by interacting with school administration around current year developments and by providing input for long-term strategic planning. The SIC does not make policy or control funding, but does contribute valuable advice and insight for decisions by staying informed and engaged in the Banks Trail community.
Nominations are now being accepted for parent representatives on the SIC for the 2016-2017 school year. We welcome all nominations and strive to create a diverse and balanced roster of candidates that accurately represent our school. You may nominate as many candidates as you choose. Please use a separate form for each recommendation. Self-nominations are accepted and encouraged.
Please submit completed nomination forms by August 26, 2016 to Elaine Sykes in the BTMS Main office (or email SykesE@fortmillschools.org).

Open House/Meet the Teacher for 7th and 8th Grade Parents
We will start off with everyone in the gym at 6:00 for a brief presentation. Parents will then leave and head down the hallway for 10 minute sessions in their child's core classes (no related arts classes). Please make sure you bring your child's schedule so you will know where you are heading.

How Can You Help BTMS?
If you have any extra "Thinking" or "strategy" board games that your family is no longer using (and that are appropriate for middle school students). we would love a donation. Last year one of our most popular clubs was Board Games.
This year we have a teacher who is going to start a very cool club. The ukulele club will teach students how to play a fun and easy to learn instrument. Here is where we could use your help. Do you have a ukulele laying around that you don't want any more? If so, we will be glad to take it off your hands. If you don't but you want to help out, maybe you could make a donation to the ukulele club through SC Future Minds. Any donations through SC Future Minds are tax deductible so it helps you with a deduction and it helps the school because we can purchase new ukuleles. Any help is greatly appreciated.
