Garcia Library Highlights
3rd Six Weeks School Year 2016- 2017
HOUR OF CODE
The Hour of Code helped students nurture their problem solving skills, logic, as well as their creativity. Kinder to 5th Grade students participated in this event and where given tutorials according to their own levels.
RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY
Garcia Travels Around the World
They also learned how to navigate the different instructional resources such as: Britannica School for facts and information; Britannica Image Quest for photos; World and I for more information about culture of the specific country and Time for Kids to try learning about the language in a particular country.
In this activity, students learned to improve their research skills as well as skills on how to navigate and operate the computers and ipads to be able to find information relevant to their research. Most importantly students learned how to collaborate and understood the importance of citation.
With this project, collaboration with the librarian and teachers was very evident. Each classroom at Garcia Elementary has displayed important facts about their country through a bulletin board display.
This is an avenue for students to show their IB Profile of being open-minded, inquirers, communicators and thinkers.
