Saturday School and Camp Marcum on October 7th
Saturday School is back! Have your child make up an absence and turn it into a day of attendance! This 1/2 day (8:30-12:30) of enrichment led by a certified teacher, not only helps the school recoup lost funding from absences, but also helps interdistrict students maintain their good standing for interdistrict reviews by helping increase their attendance percentage, and is fun!!!
No absences? No problem! Students without absences can participate in a day (7:30-4:30) of fun activities with Camp Marcum!
Camp Marcum will also be available before and after Saturday school, to allow for greater flexibility for families to drop off and pick up.
Space is limited in both programs, so sign up here today! Available for TK-8th Grade only.
No School on October 16th... but there is Camp Marcum!
October 16th is a student non-attendance day to allow for professional development for our teachers. Although school won't be in session, we will be offering Camp Marcum on October 16th to provide care for our Wildcats from 7:30-4:30. Please sign up here if you would like for your Wildcat to attend. This will be a fun day of awesome activities for our Wildcats! Available for TK-8th Grade only.

Red Ribbon Week
Marcum will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week October 23-27. The purpose of Red Ribbon Week is to cultivate an atmosphere of healthy, drug free lives. Throughout the week students will be encouraged to participate in dress-up days and classes will have their annual door decorating contest. More information about theme dress up days can be found in the attached flyer!
Costume Parade
On October 31st, the students are allowed to wear their costumes to school if they choose to do so. (No weapons; dress code applies.) We will have a costume parade in the morning where all students will have the opportunity to participate. There will be prizes available for students with the best costumes in each grade span.
Teacher Collaboration Update
During early-release Mondays in October, teachers will have the opportunity to review progress monitoring data from their grade-span intervention groupings, begin planning for Cycle 2 of intervention groups, and continue their work on best practices and universal tools for teaching writing. Professional development will include an overview of common disabilities and ways to accommodate and support varied student needs in the classroom, as well as curriculum implementation support for science!
Marcum Parents' Club Update
Marcum Parents' Club, as always, has been busy working on a variety of things to help our students and our school! They will be meeting on October 2nd at 6:00pm! Hopefully you'll join them as it's always important to have input and involvement from as many people as possible! Parents' Club is a great opportunity to help our school, make connections in our school community, and build new friendships with fellow Marcum parents. Marcum Parents' Club will be hosting the 2nd Annual Costume Drive on October 4th from 3:30-6:30. They will continue accepting costume donations through October 3rd. The first family movie night of the year is coming up on Friday, October 13th! Doors open at 6:00 and the movie, COCO, will start at 6:30! Our next fundraiser starts October 4th and runs through the 25th; we'll be working with Country Meats and selling beef sticks this year! Not interested in selling? Consider our Un-Fundraiser Option! See the attached flyer for more information. Marcum Parents' Club would also like to say thank you to all of our wildcats and their families as our hamburger booth had a record breaking year and we could not be more excited!
Labor Day Parade
The 2023 Labor Day Parade was a great day! The weather was beautiful and it was awesome to see all of the floats, check out local vendors, interact with community members, and support the schools of South Sutter county. The ”Wildcat Pizzeria” (aka Marcum’s TK/Kindergarten Float) took first place in the Nicolaus Labor Day Parade!! Thank you to our incredible Wildcat parents who put this awesome Pizzeria together!! In addition, the Marcum Parents' Club Hamburger Booth had a very successful day with no lag in customers all day!! Thank you to all of our volunteers and everyone who donated items. We're already looking forward to next year's Labor Day Parade!

Shirts have been ordered but, unfortunately, we are facing some delays with our vendor. We are hoping that they will be here soon so we can show off our school pride and our House Colors. We apologize for this delay and hope to have the shirts sometime in October.
