Friday Folders
Mrs. Relich's and Mrs. Theiler's classrooms will be taking home folders home weekly on Fridays.
LUNCH
Our school has switched lunch procedures. We now put in the hot lunch on the day of. Therefore, please communicate to your child each day before they leave if they are packing a home lunch or having the school lunch. If your child needs milk you will be charged for just milk. Milk is included with a hot lunch. VERY IMPORTANT: Please TALK to your child about lunch and what they are having each day so that we can take the count smoothly. Thank you!
Alphabet ID practice
We have been using the following alphabet linking chart during word work and writing. Your child is taking home an alphabet chart this week. Keep the chart at home. The video below will show you how to practice at home. Thanks!
Language Workshop
We are exploring books about community. In the book, Strictly No Elephants, by Lisa Mantchev, the boy and his pet elephant form a club and all are welcome to join! In the book, Be a Friend, by Salina Yoon, Dennis and Joy become friends in an extraordinary way.
Math Workshop
Kindergarteners are awesome mathematicians. They are learning how to properly form numerals and count precisely. We are also have fun with math games like Race to Trace and Cover your Board. These games encourage students to slow down write and count carefully. We are also working on becoming problem solvers in math! Check out our recent problem solving task!
Writer's Workshop
Wow! Our rooms are filled with AWESOME writers! This week we focused on thinking about what we want to write before we start writing. We are also continuing to work on stretching out words to write all the sounds we hear.
Social Studies
This week we learned about helpers in our community! Children read a Scholastic article and did activities this week focusing around community workers. We have also been focusing on being a good citizen. We are learning to be safe, kind, respectful and responsible. Students drew examples of these things.
