The Odyssey
September 1st, 2023

From the Principal
Hello MQSCA Families-
I first want to thank all our teachers, educational assistants, office staff, maintenance, food services, and anyone else that made the first week of school a success for your children. Everyone in the building has been going 110% to make sure our first week was a success.
A couple very important reminders:
- please see the drop off expectations below. The express lane is for students that can get out of the car on their own. If you have to get out of the car to help your child, please park in a parking space, to keep the express line moving quickly.
- please read the dress code in the school handbook to stay up to date. Crocs, and shoes like crocs, sandals, and any other footwear that has parts of the foot exposed, can no longer be worn to school.
- Review the back to school forms, especially the new cell phone policy. All cell phones will be collected in the morning during homeroom time, and given back out at the end of the day. Students need parental permission to have cell phones at school, phones with no parental permission will be confiscated starting Tuesday, September 5th, and will not be returned to the student, a parent will have to come into the office to get phone back.
- See the link below for our spirit wear store. The store closes on September 11th. No orders will be taken after the 11th. The school is stocking up the spirit wear store with t-shirts, sweat-shirts, and polos that will be available year round while supplies last.
A huge shout out to all our parents and families! We had a 98.1% attendance rate for the first week of school. See you all on Tuesday morning bright and early!
Christ-
Mr. Lee

The spirit wear store closes September 11th, the details page in the store has a glitch and cannot be updated at this time.
Parent Student Handbook
Here is a digital copy of the Parent and Student Handbook. Please read the hand book in its entirety. A few changes for the 2023-2024 school year:
- No Croc's, open toed sandals, or footwear that exposes the foot.
- Jeans are classified by rivets and denim material. Colors that are black, green, pink, purple, brown, tan, etc. are still considered jeans. Administration reserves the right to contact parents to drop off correct clothes, or have a child change into clothes on hand that are part of the dress code.
- Dress do day passes cannot be used on Tuesdays, or other day in which we have mass.
- MQSCA will not allow students into any ride share services with out a parent or guardian present. No exceptions will be made.
- All parents, students, and teachers are required to sign the convent found on page 52, and the acknowledgement form on page 55.
Drop off and Pick up Procedures
Please follow our drop off and pick up procedures, they make everyone's life easier.
A couple key details to make drop off and pick up safe and fast.
- Drop Off
- Use the express drop off line only if your child can get out of the car on their own.
- Use parking spaces if your child needs assistance. Parents should not get out of the car in the express line.
- Please give right away to those walking into the building from the parking spaces.
- Enter the parking lot at the two north entrances only. All traffic exits from the south. Please do not drive in the exit or drive through the parking lot to exit on the north ends of the parking lot.
- Teachers are allowed to enter the parking lot on the south to go to their parking spaces.
- Pick Up/Dismissal:
- No parking along the north end of the school, that is the entrance and exit for the parking, parish staff can park to one side.
- Please have your car in a parking space before children enter your car, do not stop and allow children in if you are in the driving areas of parking lot, it impedes traffic. Your time is not more valuable than anyone else's.
- K3/K4 students are picked up in the front of the school, walk up and your child will be handed to you. We will not let your child go to you unless you are right by the front doors.
Please see the maps below for visual.
Back to School Forms
Here is the link to the Back to School forms including the video and photo release form, cell phone policy form, and the dismissal permission form. If you have not filled these forms out, please do so. Students who have cell phones with out the consent form, and acknowledgement that it needs to be turned into the office, will have phones confiscated.

Seton Value: Community
Saint of the Week: St. Teresa of Calcutta
Virtue of the Week: Safe
Feast Day:
Scripture of the Week:
Blessed be the Lord,
who has heard the sound of my pleading.
The Lord is my strength and my shield,
in whom my heart trusts.
I am helped, so my heart rejoices;
with my song I praise him.
Lord, you are a strength for your people,
the saving refuge of your anointed.
Save your people, bless your inheritance;
pasture and carry them forever! (Psalm 28:6-9)
Prayer of the Week:
Lord God, I pray for Your protection as I begin this day. You are my hiding place, and under Your wings I can always find refuge. Protect me from trouble wherever I go, and keep evil far from me. No matter where I am, I will look to You as my Protector, the One Who fights for me every day. Your love and faithfulness, along with Your goodness and mercy, surround me daily, so I will not fear whatever might come against me. My trust is in You, God, and I give thanks to You for Your love and protection. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Safe Enviroment Training
In order to be involved in any school activities, including chaperoning a field trip, coaching a sport, or volunteering in a classroom, you have to be safe environment trained. Below is the link to register for a training. No exceptions will be made, it is an archdiocesan mandate. If you plan to volunteer now, or in the future in any way, you MUST have attended a safe environment training. Please reach out to Simone Gaspar if you have questions about safe environment training, if you need to be trained, or if a new background check needs to be conducted. If you think you have been in safe environment training in the past, but are unsure, please double check.
