Welcome back to 2020!

I would like to start by saying a huge thank you to all the parents and students for helping to make the first week of 2020 at Holy Rosary a really successful one! Lots of big smiles and stories about amazing holidays, plane rides, beach visits, family time, sleepovers and just chilling out and relaxing at home! Inside our classrooms there has been much excitement, with new teachers and students to meet, old friends to catch up with and of course, many new wonderful things to learn, discover, explore, debate and discuss!

Stage 11 is now well underway, and we are now the proud owners of a HUGE piece of vacant land! While the build has not been without hiccups, we are on track and plenty of progress has been made. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our whole community for your flexibility, patience and positive attitude as we work our way through this really exciting time! I would also to thank the parents who have been using the Hale Carpark. This has taken a load off the bottom carpark which is still very busy. We will continue to tweak the opening/closing times until we get it right!

A special welcome to Kaity Passmore in 1D and Miriam Peake in Year 1C, Lizzy Icomella in Year 2D and Ashleigh Pedler in Year 5C! We are looking forward to getting to know you and I am confident that you all have a lot to offer our staff and school community!

Due to maintenance work, we have our Yr 5D champions overlooking the city skyline and using the staffroom as a classroom for the short term. They are enjoying the high life in there with cold filtered water and two 70 inch screens at their disposal!

Holy Rosary students were introduced to a new addition to the Holy Rosary staff this week with Fredrick the rather large ‘Shepadoodle’ coming to school to visit and bring some extra-large smiles in 2020. Fred has worked in another school for the past few years and he is sure to have a positive impact in our school also.

It is important that everyone signs in at the Office whenever they enter the school between 8:45am and 3:00pm even if only dropping off lunch or forgotten items.


Please do not send emails directly to Class teachers. All emails are to be sent to admin@hrs.wa.edu.au and they will be forwarded to the teachers.


Please endeavour to get your children to school on time in the mornings. Supervision for Years 1 - 6 begins at 8:15am. Classroom doors open at 8:30am and the bell for the start of lessons goes at 8:45am. Children must be signed in on the iPad in the Office when arriving late (after 8:45am) or leaving early.


With the Administration Office now in the Science Room there is no longer a dedicated sickbay.

If your child is unwell during the night or in the morning please do not send them to school. If you are called to collect your child but cannot pick them up you will need to make sure we have a phone number for someone else we can contact to come and collect them.


If your child will not be attending school on certain days please email admin@hrs.wa.edu stating day/time/reason and if it is for one term or the whole year.


Remember to sign in at the Administration Office located in the Science Room. The closest entrance is from Angelico Street.

There will be two MAIN ENTRANCES to the school:

1. Angelico Street: stairs only to the gates near Pre-Kindy.

2. Hall carpark: ramp access for prams and wheelchairs.

Williamstown Road: access to upper primary classrooms at drop-off and pickup times only: 8.30am - 9am and 3pm - 3.20pm. If arriving after 8:45am you need to sign in at the Admin Office.

Children arriving between 8.15am and 8.30am for supervision in the undercover area must enter via either of these main entrances.

With the temporary closure of the staff car park on Williamstown Road, please be prepared for parking to be a little tighter and plan accordingly.

Drive Through - Please do not park in the following areas:

  • the drop off zone in front of the OSHC - it makes it impossible for parents to drop their children off safely as well as blocking in those cars parked correctly in the allotted car spaces.
  • between the base of the ramp adjacent to pre-primary, and the stairs at the church - this blocks access from the ramp across to the footpath that leads in front of and around the church.
  • the bays in front of the Church.

Also we ask that you endeavour not park on resident's verges or driveways around the school when you drop off or pick up your children and please observe the No Standing signs. There is parking available at Hale Hockey Carpark. It is important that our kids get to and from school safely, and that we maintain good relations with our neighbours.

School fees will be sent to all families via email in the next couple of weeks, we will advise once this has been sent.

If you hold a current Health Care Card, please email or bring this to the office for photocopying and to complete a current 2020 form.

These forms should be returned to the School Office no later than Friday 22nd February.

The FAMILY DETAILS FORM should be filled in if there are any changes to the details you have previously given us. It is very important that we have updated phone numbers, email addresses and Alternative Contact details (this is important as there is no sick bay). Your child's well being is very important to us.

The MEDICAL INFORMATION FORM only needs to be filled in if your child has a medical condition. If your child has an EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN for a medical condition (e.g. anaphylaxis, asthma) parents/guardians are responsible for supplying the paperwork to the school and updating it as necessary, including medication that has expired. There should be a new Action Plan each year and they MUST be signed by a doctor.

The PUBLICITY AND USE OF STUDENT IMAGES and CLASS CONTACT LIST FORM must only be signed and returned if you DO NOT want your child's photos on the website or DO NOT want your email address given to the Class Parent Reps. If you do not complete a form your child's photo may appear in photos on the website and other publications.
We ask that all NEW parents and anyone who has not already done so to read the CODE OF CONDUCT GUIDELINES and sign CODE OF CONDUCT LETTER.

Class Reps play a vital role in our school community - supporting the teachers and bringing people together.

Please consider volunteering for this important role and speak with your child’s teacher if you are interested.

* Support the class teacher.
* Help new families to feel welcome.
* Arrange a year group social get-together.
* Co-ordinate your year groups’ P&F event or activity.
* Offer pastoral care to ant family in need, either through the parent network or by informing the school.
* Maintain a class contact list
* Manage class Facebook (if your year group has one).


Our Siena families and school celebrated a very special moment today, with the first ride by the children on the Sway Fun Glider. After many years of fundraising, this dream has become a reality and will provide hours of inclusive fun for all children of our school community.

Teachers will advise of library borrowing times and we will let you know as soon as the library has reopened! Farewell Fr Chinh

Fr Chinh’s Provincial has appointed him to the position of Promoter for Social Media in the Dominican Province of Vietnam which means will have to say goodbye to him on his return.

We would like to thank Fr Chinh for his dedication to our parish over the last two years.

Fr Chinh will be returning after his holiday and we will arrange a farewell Mass and morning tea for him. Parishioners will miss his ready smile and happy disposition.
