Remote Learning Days
This Wednesday - Friday will be remote learning days for students. There will be no live instruction to provide teachers adequate planning time to prepare for the reopening of the school building. Monday, March 15th will also be a remote learning day for our remote kindergarten and first grade students so teachers are able to help our youngest learners get acclimated to the classroom and return to school. The regular virtual schedule will resume on Tuesday, March 16th.

Brother to Brother - Attention Third Grade Parents
We are now recruiting 3rd grade boys for the Brother to Brother Mentoring Program for the remainder of this school year. This program was instituted at Pearsontown Elementary seven years ago and has shown great success in helping young boys build the self-confidence and motivation needed to find success, while excelling in their academics.
This program is designed specifically to help young minority males (grades 3-5) develop the necessary academic, social, and emotional skills needed to become successful in elementary, middle, and high school and beyond. The young men will participate in monthly character building discussions and interact with influential guest speakers.
The meetings occur one Friday a month at 10:00 AM. During remote learning, meetings will take place via Zoom.
Please fill out this Google Form if you would like your child to participate.

Breakfast and Lunch
This year, we are operating under the Emergency Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) which allows the flexibility of feeding any child in the Durham Community free of charge through various methods such as; bus locations, learning centers, community partners, home delivery, and on-site settings. Under SFSP, we have different regulations that must be followed. The great news is that breakfast and lunch is free of charge for every DPS student. The biggest change is there will be no element of choice as there has been in the past. I have already inquired about getting a menu to send out.
For students participating in in-person learning:
Breakfast: Free to all Students
- Breakfast is picked-up in the cafeteria in individually packed bags. Students can eat in the cafeteria or the classroom.
Lunch: Free to all Students
Serving lines will be set-up in the cafeteria. All meals will be packaged in Styrofoam to-go containers.
- School Nutrition Services staff will pack and deliver to tables in the hallways at selected times. Students who choose to receive the meal will eat in the classroom.
For students participating in remote learning:
Any student that chooses to remain 100% virtual has two options for meal service.
- Families can pick-up daily hot meals at the school site.
- Families can choose to have a weekly delivery of cook at home meals through EAT NC. This option is only available to the students who are enrolled in remote learning to ensure accountability procedures are accurate. To register for EAT NC meal deliveries, families can contact: https://www.eatnorthcarolina.org/about
