Be sure to wash your hands or use hand sanitizer regularly.
Practice physical distancing.
Stay at home if you are feeling ill.
Thank you for your continued support.

PB Counselor's Corner:
Student Health Centers: Did you know that all school-aged children can receive comprehensive primary care and mental health care at student health centers? Did you know that your children aged 5-18 can receive care at student health centers with or without insurance and that there is never an out-of-pocket cost for services? There is a student health center in Centennial High School and many other high schools in Multnomah County.

Reminders:
Powell Butte Construction Update. Things were busy at Powell Butte during winter break. Fencing was put up in our playground area and construction will begin soon for our new Powell Butte gym. The estimated completion date for the new gym is September 2022.
Also during the break, the tile floors in our main hallways were removed and prepped for our hallway and flooring improvements that will happen during the summer.
Families who want their student to participate in the “Test to Stay” Program must sign a consent form for testing.
Parents can find the consent forms and more information about our “Test to Stay” program at www.csd28j.org/testtostay.
If you would like your child to be eligible to participate in the "Test to Stay" program please complete the consent for and return it to the Powell Butte office.
State Testing 30-Day Opt Out Information. Every year Powell Butte Elementary students in grades 3rd-6th participate in statewide testing in English Language Arts and Math. In addition, our 5th grade students participate in state testing in Science. Testing for students will take place later this spring. We will provide you with the dates as they get closer.
There are many benefits to state testing:
“Why does participation matter? While no single test can give a complete picture of your child’s progress, statewide tests provide educators and administrators with information about what educational approaches are working and progress and where additional resources are needed. Your child’s participation is important to ensure schools and districts receive the targeted information to determine resources they need to help all students succeed.” (Oregon Department of Education).
However, if you elect for your child not to participate, you may access the 30-Day Opt Out form on the district website. To access the form, you may go to the Centennial School District website or see attached documents, ENG & SPAN.
