August 2022 Welcome Back
Welcome to the New School Year
Dear Utsalady Families and Friends,
It is with heart-felt warmth and excitement that I share my August principal message to welcome new and returning families to the 2022- 2023 -school year. I am excited to begin my 4th year at Utsalady. I am one of many Utsalady team members focused on our shared commitment to student achievement and social emotional learning. For the past twenty-five (or more) years, I have been dedicated to kids and education.
This year there is a sense of relief as we return to a more normal beginning of school. Over the past two to three years we've experienced extraordinary circumstances and challenges. Through all of this I've been continually impressed by our Utsalady community. I've learned that our students and community are resilient and strong. All of us care deeply about students and student learning. We love our UTSALADY EAGLES and all of us have a deep sense of Eagle Pride.
This year we are excited to offer school supplies for all students and are eager to greet students and families at open house. Please plan to join us at UES on August 30th from 4:00-5:00. Students can meet their teachers, tour the school, visit friends and play on the playground.
Very soon the sounds of our learners will fill our hallways and classrooms. I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of smiling faces as we spend these last few days before school starts engaged in preparation to be ready for all students and families.
Sincerely,
Julie Echols, Proud Utsalady Principal

Meals and Food Service for the 2022-2023 School Year
Federal funding for no-cost breakfast and lunches for all students during the COVID-19 pandemic has ended. Some districts have been able to qualify for no-cost meals to continue due to poverty rates in the community. SCSD does not qualify to participate under the new federal Community Eligibility Provision. This means the district will return to paid breakfast and lunch meals for students for the 2022-23 school year.
Please click this link to apply for free and reduced meals. If you need assistance filling out the form please feel free to come to the UES office or email uesinfo@stanwood.wednet.edu or jechols@stanwood.wednet.edu
If your child had funds on their student meal account prior to the shift to free meals, the balance is available to view in skyward. Please visit the food service website for more information.
