Themes: Winter Holidays: Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah Dec 7-21
The students will be going on the Polar Express in our classroom on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 15th and 16th. Please send your child in their pajamas and we will enjoy hot chocolate while we ride the train and listen to the story of “The Polar Express”.
Please remember to send hats, scarves, and mittens for your child and LABEL the items. They will still play outside for 10 minutes if the wind chill is above 15 degrees. Let me know if you have any questions by phone (851-6132) or email (firstname.lastname@example.org).

Some of the activities we will be doing the next week...
*Cutting toys from magazines (Fine Motor)
*Use shaving cream on Santa Clause mats (Sensory)
*Participate in Polar Express activities to prepare our adventure on the Polar Express Train (Social)
*Look at a globe to discover where the North Pole is located (Social Studies)
*Singing holiday songs such as “S-A-N-T-A” and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer to promote literacy. We will use sign language to Rudolph. (Music)
*Answering a variety of “wh” questions and yes/no questions on Christmas Trees & Lights (Language)
*We will know how to write the letter “S” (Handwriting Without Tears & Sensory)
*We will read the Nursery Rhyme: “Wee Willie Winkie” (Communication Arts)
*We will listen to many Christmas stories on cd (Literacy)
*We will review how to be SAFE, KIND, and RESPONSIBLE during indoor recess, playground, dismissal, and in the hallways (PBS)
*We will demonstrate how to follow directions and how to ask for what you need or want during activities (Social Skills)

December 21st – Monday/Wednesday/Friday Class Christmas Party: LAST DAY for MWF
December 22nd – January 5th – NO SCHOOL: Christmas Break
January 6th – First Day Back & Parent Meeting for Child Center (This is an informational meeting for parents concerning teaching our children to stay safe.)

Preschool Re-enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year begins on Monday, January 25, 2016 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at all Early Childhood locations and will continue thereafter during normal business hours. Re-enrollment is for students currently attending, their siblings and all FHSD employees. An activity supply fee is due at the time of re-enrollment.
Open enrollment for the entire Francis Howell Community will begin on Monday, February 1, 2016 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at all Early Childhood locations and will continue thereafter during normal business hours.
Out of District families will be able to enroll beginning Tuesday, March 1, 2016. Thank you for your participation in our Francis Howell Preschool Programs!
Child Center Program
The Child Center will be presenting "The Body Safety Program" in January. The Body Safety Program will empower children to have a voice in an effort to help prevent them from becoming a victim of abuse.
This is an informational meeting for the parents to learn what information will be given to the children. There will be a Parent Night on January 6th at 6:30 PM at the Central Early Childhood Center.
