A Message from Mrs. Katkocin
Dear Scotland Families,
I hope you were all able to enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend! It has been wonderful seeing so many students engaging in learning, both in-person and online. We continue to develop and grow as a learning community, supporting our students with purposeful integration of technology. Our teachers are working so hard, and I am so incredibly proud of their dedication and persistence!
Scotland will be hosting a Virtual Open House on Thursday, September 24th. I will be sharing more information later this week regarding the format and timing of the event. We look forward to seeing you on the 24th!
Just a reminder that Picture Day is this week (September 17th) for cohort B, as well as remote learners whose last name begin with the letters L-Z. Picture Day will be outside and socially distanced. Due to social distancing guidelines, we will not be able to have group photos this year. For answers tro any questions about ordering, please reach out to lifeguards@coffeepond.com or call (518) 907-6633 extension 0.
Wishing you all a wonderful week!
Kind regards,
Jill

Gentle Reminders...
- All students should bring their chromebooks back and forth from school to home daily.
- Literacy kits (black drawstring bag) and math kits (Ziploc bags) should also come back and forth from school to home daily unless otherwise indicated by your child's teacher.
- Please make sure you pack your child a water bottle each day! As a health and safety measure, our water fountains have been disabled.
- Payments for lunch can be paid through the School Online Payment Portal. Please see link below.
Virtual Learning:
- Students will be visible to the teacher and other participating students (please remind your child to have their camera on throughout the lessons).
- Parents are encouraged to have their students independently participate via a location that is quiet and free of distraction, to the extent possible. Other individuals in the home are not permitted to participate in or be visible on the video conference, or otherwise observe the lesson, other than reasonable adult supervision of the student.
- Parents and students are prohibited from recording video conferencing sessions. The district will not be recording any classes/sessions.
- Depending on each student’s individual circumstance, teachers or service providers may request the facilitation of the supervising adult to assist the student in engaging in the session.
- In addition, if your child needs to leave for a period of time during instruction (i.e. doctor or dentist appointment), please notify the classroom teacher ahead of time, just as you would if they were in the building.
Arrival/Dismissal:
Thank you all for your caution with our new arrival and dismissal procedures. Just a few quick reminders:
- The time slotted for parent drop off in the morning is from 8:35-8:45am.
- If you are dropping your child off between 8:45am and 8:55am, please park your car and walk them to the crosswalk, where a staff member will meet and assist them across the driveway.
- If you are dropping your child off after 8:55am, please park in a designated parking space, and walk your child to the security guard at the front door.
Thank you so much for your partnership in making this experience a success!

A Note from Our PTA
Scotty Family Dinner & Game Night
We have transformed Scotty Spirit Games into Scotty Family Dinner & Game Night! During Dinner & Game night, we are partnering with a restaurant in town to purchase dinner made for families and a virtually hosted game to play as together. It's a perfect end of the crazy week of work, in-person, and online school. We hope it brings spirit to the family, laughter to all family members, and kick off the weekend!
Our first Scotty Family Dinner & Game Night is Friday, September 18, 2020, then followed by the first Friday every month.
We look forward to sharing more about our September Games & Dinner Plans!
