February 17, 2016
It was so nice to see Jackson students participating in Friendship activities last week! On Friday, in addition to class friendship parties, Jackson students who had read 10 or more Bluebonnet books attended a Bluebonnet breakfast and learned the recipient of this year's award! It was a busy week, but our students came back to school rested and ready to learn after a day off on Monday in observance of President's Day.
Just a reminder that the Jackson PTA is sponsoring a Field Trip Fundraising campaign to raise money for grade level field trips. Our goal is to raise $6,000 through cash or check donations by March 2nd. Please see flyer below for more details. TOGETHER WE CAN DO THIS!
February 29th through March 4th is National School Breakfast Week, and breakfast is FREE for ALL students EVERY day!!! During National School Breakfast Week, all students who eat breakfast in the cafeteria will receive a prize each day. Their name will also go into a drawing for a set of books so be sure to have your student join us for breakfast!

2016 Plano ISD Bond Election
On May 7, 2016, Plano ISD voters will decide on a $481 million bond proposal to fund initiatives recommended by the Plano ISD Facilities and Technology Task Force. Appointed in August, 2015 by the Plano ISD Board of Trustees, the task force included citizens, business leaders, teachers, principals and parents. The task force reviewed enrollment trends and projections, established construction and renovation needs, validated costs and sought input from fellow community members. After five months of study, debate and public input, the task force made final recommendations to school trustees which are included in this bond proposal. If approved, the bond initiative will provide funding toward eight major project areas with no increase to the tax rate and will impact all Plano ISD campuses through district-wide security updates, renovations and facility upgrades, as well as technology improvements. Find out more, including specific project allocations, at www.pisd.edu/2016bond. You may send questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.

2015-16 Jackson PTA Earns Awards!
Great News--The Texas PTA has awarded Jackson Elementary's PTA with the 100+ Club Award, the Fall Increase Award, and the 2015 President’s List Award!
Jackson's PTA earned the 100+ Club Award by increasing PTA membership over last year and hitting the significant milestone of 224 members by October 31, 2015!
Our PTA's efforts to recruit more than 100 percent of last year’s total membership before November 30, 2015, earned the Fall Increase Award!
The significant President's List Award represents that by December 19, 2015, Jackson's PTA had achieved Active Status with Texas PTA and recruited more members than Jackson's PTA had all of last year!
Earning these awards reflects that Jackson's PTA engages and empowers families and the community to advocate for all children in the community! In honor of these accomplishments, Jackson's PTA will be recognized on Texas PTA’s social media outlets and will be given special recognition in this year’s Superintendent’s PTA Report Card. Congratulations!!
