School Philosophy of Internet use

The Great Neck Public school district will use technology to improve student learning. While the internet offers a lot of educational content, as well as content that is illegal and harmful to students.


Here we will review what is acceptable and non acceptable use of the internet for students

The end of cyber bullying

Using the Internet responsibly is important, This means respecting other peoples post, images, and content on social media. Everyone has a digital voice.


Everyone has the right to the internet, lets support everyone's creativity and support our community through positive digital outlets!


How can we support the community through the internet ?


  • Organize community events ( Such at the RELAY FOR LIFE EVENT AT SOUTH MIDDLE SCHOOL)
  • Make community announcements
  • communicate with one another
  • establish connections through many different types of media


FIlters

The internet has different filters to protect students from lure or obscene content on the internet. Although websites will be blocked from filters, If a website is found to be beneficial to students, they can be unblocked

5 rules for internet safety

1. DO NOT SHARE YOUR SCHOOL ACCOUNTS OR ATTEMPT TO GET THE PASSWORDS OF OTHERS


2. DO NOT SHARE PERSONAL INFORMATION SUCH AS NAMES, PERSONAL ADDRESSES, PHONE NUMBERS and PHOTOGRAPHS


3. DO NOT MAKE APPOINTMENTS WITH THE PEOPLE WHO YOU HAVE MET ONLINE


4. STUDENTS SHOULD TELL A TEACHER OR ADMINISTRATOR IF THEY COME ACROSS INFORMATION THAT IS DANGEROUS


5. STUDENTS MUST ABIDE BY THE DISTRICT GUIDELINES AND SAFETY RULES
