Solar installations and schedule change
The other installations should be able to connect without disruption. The panels are installed in Fayette and will be showing up at the High School site in the next week or two. All together, we will have capacity to generate around 70% of our electricity. For the first 5 to 6 years our savings should be close to $50,000 or more each year. After that time period, the district will complete the purchase of all panels and the savings will increase considerably, hopefully exceeding $100,000 of annual savings.
Lead With Purpose
The AD’s will be finalizing the winter schedule at their September 11th meeting. The four games where the order will be switched are January 14, 17, 21 and 24th, so mark your calendars correctly with Boys Basketball at 6:15 and Girls Basketball at 8:00 on those dates. This could be the start of something bigger, as we see no reason why girls events could not be last on half of all double header nights. We will survey participants to get some input as to where we go from here, but its about time to recognize the inequalities of the current tradition.
WATER!
The water was deemed safe to drink. However, a health warning was developed due to the possibility of young infants, elderly or immune system compromised individuals to be susceptible to this particular bacteria. As a safety measure, we now will be required to chlorinate our water from that well to assure these bacteria do not occur in our drinking water.
To install a chlorinator is not a quick and simple task. As anyone who has been down into the boiler room of that build can attest, there is little room for more equipment. With the help of Doug Easton, of Easton's Water Service and Adam Moris of Fehr Graham Engineering, we have developed a plan to meet the DNR standards. Unfortunately, there was no way to complete the installation prior to the start of school.
Because the water is free of pathogenic bacteria the DNR allowed us to start school with the well in service. However, just to be safe, we have provided bottled water to the kitchen staff and all water fountain locations. Students may drink water if they feel safe to do so, but they always have the option of the bottled water. We will provide these safe guards until the chlorinating equipment is fully installed and water testing shows appropriate treatment has been met.
Check out the Mural in the HS gym. Big Thanks to Sarah Pisney and her art students on a job well done!
