Rise and Shine
You can do it!
Dear Students,
Missing You!
Mrs. deQuevedo and Mr. Watters
P.S. If you are an AP student, there is an important announcement at the very bottom of this newsletter.
Get Social: End the Isolation!
Youth MOVE PA is excited to host a “Youth Virtual Drop-In” that is all about getting some social interaction, even if we can’t go out and do our normal things like school, sports, going to the game store, or hanging with our friends. We know how stressful it can be when our routine is messed up and it is just as frustrating when everyone is talking about Coronavirus as if there might be impending doom!! We would like to help you feel better about the outside world and the stress it may bring by meeting new people who join this group. We will be talking about ourselves, what we like, and be discussing a specific topic with each other during each meeting. This gives us some distraction from the anxiety that can arise from being stuck inside all the time. Our meetings will be hosted every Monday and Friday from 1pm to 2pm on Zoom. Meetings will be moderated by Zack Karenchak, Tristan Schnoke and Aaron Zimmerman.

Apps to Help with Anxiety*
Sanvello is also an app that has roots in CBT and is designed to support people with anxiety. It includes guided meditations, a daily mood tracker, and other activities and videos. It can be set to alert you daily so that you can check in and work through any anxiety you might be feeling. This is a great app to recommend for parents to help their children.
This simple app is perfect for helping people practice deep breathing. It includes visuals that you can follow as you breathe. It also can be customized to the breathing pattern that you would like. The calming voices and imagery make this app perfect to use when working with students who are feeling upset or anxious.

Addiction Policy Forum has partnered with CHESS Health to create the Connections App, a free smartphone app that supports patients in recovery from substance use disorders. The app was designed to ensure that people in recovery have a virtual support network, even while practicing social distancing.
