4th Grade Call Up By: Joshua Liu and Noah Nicosia
What we are learning about:
Reading/Writing:
We are writing an expository essay. We are also studying “on and on sentences” and run on sentences. We are also learning to fix paragraphs in short stories. We are also studying how nonfiction authors organize their writing using text structures such as chronological, problem/solution, cause and effect, and compare contrast.
Social Studies:
We are learning about the history of Texas. We are studying Mexico's Independence from Spain, and the disagreements over land. We are also beginning to learn about the reasons Texas settlers went to war with Mexico.
Math:
Units of capacity (Metric & Customary)
Units of weight (Metric & Customary)
Units of mass (Metric and Customary)
In math we are studying the metric units, capacity, and mass in topic twelve! We even learned how to make a gallon guy and a gallon girl.
Science:
Energy
We are researching about a form of energy and making a slide presentation about it.
In science we are studying renewable and nonrenewable resources. We even split in to groups in Ms. Manuel’s class! We got to study one non renewable resource, and my group got oil.

A Blue Fedora By: Hannah Adams
Once there was a beautiful telepathic blue fedora named Al, and more than anything he wanted to be in the fashion week wardrobe. But he is just a hat. He can’t go places. Heck! He’s never even left the wardrobe. He was hopeless. Until he met Shelah, a petticoat who wanted more than anything to sing on broadway. Along the way they discover new truths about a girl named Sydney, where the fashion week judge Mr. Gonagen has disappeared off to 3 days before the show, and where in the world could they find Mrs. Natelie ( Shelah’s mom) who was waiting for here with 2 tickets to broadway. As if it couldn’t get worse, Sydney is mad about something with Shelah, something very deep, so she moves the fashion week show to conflict with the broadway show times. Should Al continue to follow his dream, or watch his friend follow her heart? Only destiny can tell.
A Slimy Mistake By: Addy Tucker and Nora Newman
Last week in Mrs.Durrett’s block 2 class, we had a slimy explosion. This happened to Hayden Jimenez.
It was a regular day for Hayden until she opened her desk and found that her fluffy white cloud slime had exploded all over her stuff! The slime hit Homework Central, Science County, Agenda ville, and Pete The Cat colony! Said by the one and only Hayden Jimenez that when she opened her desk that she was shocked to find this slimy situation. She spent almost thirty minutes cleaning her stuff just to discover that she had to replace Science County, and as fast as she could she cleaned Pete the Cat Colony (aka a library book.) This all happened while the rest of the class worked. Unfortunately she had no time left to work. Guys, let this be a life lesson to not bring slime to school!!!

Valentine's Truths! By: Hannah Adams
Get to know what your child did in Mrs Choe’s Class! 2-15-18
On This recent February 14th the students in Ms Choe’s home room class celebrated Valentine’s day as a fun 4th grade group! We started off by coming into our classroom and chilling and talking until it was 1:30; time to start! Mrs Choe held up our boxes and when she held up yours you would go to the back to retrive it. Some of us had to go back twice to grab our valentines as well! When everybody had their box Ms Choe kindly went over the rules. She then pulled out Mitch and Reece’s boxes because they could not join us this time. :( We got to pass out our valentines. Noah passed out rubix cubes and stickers, I did slime and Amal passed out sampler boxes of chocolates with stickers and scratch art. It was fun! To end the day we got to have three treats and We got to do a Valentine's Day and a tween Kahoot. This Valentine’s Day was full of love! Our valentines were all unique like us! Thanks 4th grade teachers for making this holiday magical!
