MoB (Matters of Business)
Edgewood's Weekly Staff Update for the week of 4/15-4/18
We are committed to the journey of developing EACH child to be an inspired learner and a caring, contributing citizen.
Learning Notes
May gives us our last solid month of teaching. Consider the following:
A) What are the promise standards you set out to reach? What do students need in order to meet them?
B) How do you want students to leave as readers? Writers? Mathematicians?
C) How tight are your workshop structures? How can you leverage time to maximize the amount of time that kids are actively, independently reading, and you're meeting personalized needs through conferring and small groups?
Each August, we set out with a purpose and vision clear in mind. Reflect; where are you in relation to that vision? Let's do this!
TCB (Taking Care of Business)
- Have you signed up for your health appraisal? If not, do so!
- Clarifying Performance Tasks and Learning Board; in the 2019-2020 school year, we should aim to upload ~3 tasks with feedback over the course of the school year. At the elementary level, Learning Board (the digital portfolio), will be an avenue for us to: a) Reflect and assess G21 skills and dispositions, b) Communicate progress with the G21 and academic growth, and c) create a foundation for students to have more self-managed portfolios in secondary.
Academic Language (EL) Corner
Here is a way to guide students in self-directed learning while they read and acquire new vocabulary. This can be modified based on grade level.
