This Weeks Challenge: Self-Care
This week has also been a whirlwind of new changes. The world has shown great resilience during this time. Our DAVIDSON families and students have been amazing at showing patience, understanding, rolling with the punches and have shown what being resilient is.
Last week seemed to be the week a lot of us felt the slow down of our daily lives, we are getting our rhythm down when it comes to E-Learning and daily routines. Whether the change of pace is a welcomed change or one that is causing uneasiness; it has nonetheless forced us to create a new normal for the time-being. It's easy to fall out of a set routine and develop some not-so-great habits. Personally, I've lost track of which day it was a time or two within the last couple of weeks and my natural Night Owl tendencies are coming out. :)
That being said, something we should all remember is to keep ourselves on a healthy schedule and keep ourselves mentally and physically healthy. Stay grounded and balanced and remember what means the most to you and your family. We at Davidson are so grateful to have such a wonderful group of families and you all have done such a great job adapting to the changes coming your way!

IMPORTANT UPDATES
E-Learning Extension
- North Kansas City School Buildings will remain closed for the remainder of the year. E-Learning is now in place until May 22nd, the last day of school.
Food Distribution
- School busses will no longer deliver daily lunches to the neighborhoods. There are now 12 food distribution sites that will follow a Grab-and-Go/drive-thru type process. You don't even have to leave your car!
We are still working on a plan for students to retrieve their belongings and turn in items such as their iPads, cubes and chargers. More details to come.
- If your student should need to pick-up an item immediately, please contact Desiree Brown and she will schedule a time to meet at Davidson to pick-up the items. Call the main phone number for assistance, 816-321-5080.

New Resource!
Through a grant from the Children’s Service Fund Board, Synergy Services has provided social emotional learning activities throughout our school district this year. To continue and expand these efforts, Synergy is sharing weekly prevention video lessons for students K-8. These video lessons will help students understand brain development, the effects of stress on the brain, and positive coping strategies. I will post the videos to students SeeSaw accounts to kick off each week. Students will not be required to do any "work" with these videos, but they will provide them with some great information and tips if they choose to watch.

During this critical time when you and your students and their caregivers need help the most, Mid-Continent Public Library provides access to a wide range of online resources that can help with schoolwork at home. As you contact your students, please remind them that they can use the Library virtually with their Student Access Passes (Library card).
You can help your students begin using their Access Passes today!
The North Kansas City School District has chosen a special format for Student Access Pass numbers, which gives access to Mid-Continent Public Library’s online resources:
“NKC” + student ID number (i.e., NKC123456)
By using their Student Access Pass numbers, your students can use the following from home:
Online Resources: MCPL has more than 200 online resources that can be used for research, school projects, online learning, and more. One such resource is Live Homework Help from Tutor.com, which is available in English and Spanish and connects students with a live tutor who can assist them in a variety of subjects. When accessing any online resource on mymcpl.org, type in the student’s Access Pass number using the format above.
Digital Content: The Library provides a wealth of materials that can be downloaded or streamed, including eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eMovies from OverDrive; eMagazines from RBdigital and Flipster; eNewspapers from PressReader; and eMusic from Freegal Music and other free resources. Access these and others at mymcpl.org/GoDigital.
Educator Resources: To save you time, our staff has compiled an age-appropriate list of resources for you to consider here. You can view our full list of student resources at mymcpl.org/homework.
Need your own MCPL Access Pass? Because you work within the Library district, you are eligible for an Access Pass. It’s easy to apply online at mymcpl.org/NewCard.
Please share this important information with other teachers in your school so that all students have the opportunity to use the Library’s resources!
We look forward to seeing you at one of our branches in the near future.
*All students are eligible for a student ID-based account unless their parents opted out during this year’s school registration

Technology Support During E-Learning
The NKC Schools Technology department will also offer device support in person at the same times and locations as meal pick up services at the feeder pattern high schools. This will provide an opportunity for families to get assistance with student devices, including iPads and Macs. This will also be the location where you will drop-off or pick up devices for repair. Simply drive up at the front entrance of your feeder pattern high school between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. and let a staff member know that you are looking for assistance with technology.
