STAAR EOC Testing

STAAR EOC Testing will take place for 9th and 10th grade students according to the following schedule:

Tuesday, March 29 - STAAR English 1 EOC and Thursday, March 31 - STAAR English 2 EOC

Please take a few minutes to review the information below.

*Campus will be closed to visitors on each testing day. Parents, this means if your student brings or you deliver their lunch, the lunch must be sent to school with your child. You will not be able to drop off lunches or other materials on these days. We know this may seem inconvenient, but it is essential that we provide a safe, secure, and quiet environment for all students who are testing.

Students who are testing will have lunch in their testing areas. The cafeteria will be open for students to purchase their lunch if they did not bring their lunch. Students who are unable to bring a sack lunch will be walked to the cafeteria. They will return to their testing areas to eat their meals.

*Students should not attend school on a testing day if they are sick. Please follow the district guidelines for illness and keep your child home, if needed.

*Students need to get a good night's sleep and eat breakfast! We hope this is the routine every day and especially for testing!

*Students are not allowed to have electronic devices in the testing room. This includes cell phones, e-readers and apple/smart watches. Students will be instructed to have all electronic devices off and locked in their lockers, or they must turn them in to their test administrator. Use of electronic devices by a student is considered a testing irregularity and could result in his/her test being invalidated. Students are encouraged to bring a book with them on the day of testing to read once they are finished.

*A student cannot leave the building and return later to complete his or her test. If your child has an appointment on any of the testing days that affects him or her, please try to change the appointment. If a student does leave in the middle of a test, for any reason, the test may be submitted to be scored, and the student will be unable to make it up.

*We will have make-up testing days after each test for students who were absent the day of testing.

PLANO YOUTH LEADERSHIP

For Additional Information: www.planoyouthleadership.org

Plano Youth Leadership (PYL) is now accepting applications for its 2016-2017 (Class 22) class. Students currently enrolled in the 9th grade and planning to enter the 10th grade during the 2016-2017 school year are eligible to apply. Applicants must reside in the area served by the Plano Independent School District (PISD) or within the City of Plano, regardless of whether the applicant attends public or private school or is home schooled.

PYL provides student with an opportunity to explore leadership and learn more about becoming an effective leader, working with different leadership styles, becoming more aware of their community, all in order to raise their awareness and to help prepare them to make positive impacts on their community today and in the future. Through a series of monthly class sessions, running concurrently with the school year, students develop the confidence and knowledge they need to succeed in leadership positions while learning about leadership and service opportunities in the community.

According to Jeri Chambers, Incoming PYL Board President, "Plano Youth Leadership is designed for 10th grade students at a time in their personal growth when they are developing an interest and comprehension of the broader community in which they live. PYL provides participants a unique opportunity to meet with and to learn from community leaders representing government, education, community service and business in an effort to maximize their individual leadership skills." Added PYL alumnus Haley Roper, "PYL taught me how to work with many different leadership styles. This program has made an amazing impact on my life."

The PYL Selection Committee chooses participants representing a cross section of the community based on information provided in the written application. Completed application must be submitted by April 29, 2016. Applications are available at area Plano High Schools and can be downloaded from the Plano Youth Leadership website: www.planoyouthleadership.org.

  • PTSA Casserole Day Help
  • Jasper PTSA Student Scholarship
  • Jasper Jazz Booster Club

Jasper Parents:

The deadline for ordering a casserole for the PTSA Casserole Day through Central Market is THIS FRIDAY, March 18.

Please help us show our appreciation to the faculty and staff by providing them with a meal that they can take home to enjoy with their families, without having to cook. If you’ve already ordered, we wish you thank you. If you haven’t, please take a moment to help us reach our goal of 120 casseroles.

The casseroles can be homemade or purchased. You can donate one or more. We have arranged with Central Market to allow for online orders of a package that includes a casserole and salad. The store will deliver for you, making this an easy option. Please note: Central Market no longer takes phone orders.

Because of limited storage and carpool complications, parents who wish to drop off donations must do so between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. March 29, the day we will be distributing the casseroles.

You have three options:

1. ONLINE ORDER: Use our Jasper PTSA Toolkit, and place your order online using your credit card by March 18 for one or more Central Market casserole packages. They will be delivered for you on March 29. Click here to order online.

2. COOK: Provide a homemade casserole. If you plan to make one or more, please email us by March 21 so we can keep count. We request that you use a disposable pan and note on top what is in your casserole. You’ll deliver between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. March 29.

3. SHOP: Buy a casserole (Stouffer’s or some other frozen brand, or premade by any grocery store) and deliver it. If you plan to buy one or more, email us by March 21 so we can keep count. You’ll deliver between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. March 29.

If you have questions, please contact Linda Leavell at lindaleavell@yahoo.com or Carrie Flores at carrie.flores32@verizon.net.
