POLL WORKERS NEEDED - AGES 17+

If you'll be 17 or 18 years old by Election Day on May 16, so you can work at the polls! It's a great way to serve your community, learn about the electoral process, and get a nice paycheck for doing it.

  • Poll workers will serve as clerks or machine operators and will receive $50 for training + $200 for working the full Election Day on May 16th.
  • Bilingual interpreters will receive $50 for training + $180 for working Election Day. If you are both a poll worker and interpreter, you will receive $295 for Election Day.
It's a long day, from 6:15am to 8pm (with break for lunch), and you need to be committed to staying the entire time, but most students report that it's a rewarding experience.

If you'll be 17 on Election Day, you need to complete the "Involved at 17" application. Follow these steps so I can help as many students as possible.

  1. Complete the Involved at 17 online application. Click Submit.
  2. Download the PDF and print the completed application.
  3. Ask your parent or guardian to sign the application.
  4. Bring your signed application to Ms. Thompson by Deadline - by April 5.

Then I'll scan and email them to the City Commissioners' Office.

If you'll be 18 on Election Day, the process is a little easier. Follow these steps:

  1. Register to Vote: payouth.vote/register (use a phone or touchscreen to sign the form.)
  2. Complete the Poll Worker Form.
  3. Apply for a Mail-In Ballot: Vote.PA.gov/MailBallot
If you want to also be a Bilingual Interpreter, the form isn't available yet, but you can find information here.

There is an optional training for the new electronic poll books that you can register for here. It pays an additional $50.

The regular mandatory poll worker training is not available yet. If enough students sign up, they may come out to our school to do the training. I'll keep you posted when I have more information.

Let me know if you have any questions or problems. Once the applications are submitted, you can reach out to Mr. McCoy with any questions: Nathaniel.McCoy@Phila.gov.
