Spring MAP Testing

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week students in grades 3-5 will be taking their Spring MAP tests in Reading and Math. Please bring your child to school on time and ensure they get enough rest and a good breakfast those days. We want them to show us how much they've grown this year!

Kindergarten through 2nd grade students will take their MAP tests during state testing for grades 3-5 in May.

Our front office staff will be helping parents complete the registration process while our Kindergarten teachers will be screening students, so bring your child if you are coming to register! Congrats to our Stock Market Club!

Congrats to the Stock Market Club! Under the leadership or Mrs. Megan Brown, 2nd grade teacher, one of our teams, consisting of Matthan Brown, Blake Heard, Nicholas Brockelbank, and Drew Patrick are 2nd out of 164 4th and 5th grade teams and 18th out of 1,034 4th-12th grade teams in the state!!

Did you know...? The Stock Market Game is a national competition. Students compete against other schools in South Carolina. Their main competition is 4th and 5th grade, however, they can also find their rankings against high schools!

The students make their investments in real time. Mrs. Brown leads a discussion of the current news and how the market may be affected. The students research companies that they are interested in investing in. They look at the stock trends, opening and closing prices and PE ratios.

Each team starts off with $100,000 and invests in companies on the NYSE, AMEX, or NASDAQ. Students are always surprised by how much a share of stock costs. For example, Google is $1,160.00!! The students have to figure out how much they can buy or sell. They also figure out percentages of their rankings.
