OCS Digital Learner News
A weekly newsletter for DL Families - January 15, 2021
One Word for Kids
January is a great time to reflect on the past and set goals for the new year. Here is a fun academic activity you can complete with your child. Watch the video reading of the book, One Word for Kids. After reading the book, have your student think of a word, write it on a blank piece of paper (decorate your word), and take a picture with the word. Email the photo to your child's Digital Learning Teacher. We will highlight students' "One Word" entries on future newsletters.
Thank you, Prisha S. from Mrs. Clark's class, for submitting your One Word, Hopeful!
DL Flipgrid Question of the Week
To create a social aspect for our digital learners, we are continuing the DL Flipgrid Question of the Week! All of the digital learning students and teachers have been connected to a special Flipgrid course where weekly topics will be posted to promote conversations and connections. This week's conversation asks, "What influential person from history would you like to meet?" An email was sent to your child's email account with a link to this week's conversation. Please note, participation is strictly voluntary and not mandatory.
Media Specialist Mrs. Miriam Shook and Counselor Mrs. Lauren Lee from CFES have collected various January Resources for students and parents to enjoy. There are links to help celebrate the 100th Day of School, books and art projects focused on winter, and informative resources discussing the importance of Dr. Martin Luther King. Check them out!
