Weekly Update
Dear Families,
As your child grows and develops, our goal is to help them build not only strong foundational academic skills, but also the critical competencies needed for healthy social-emotional development. The ability to manage emotions, empathize, persevere through difficult tasks and collaborate are essential life skills for success at home and school. These skills, like academic skills, can only flourish with modeling and practice. Building the connection between home and school with a shared emphasis on these skills will only help our children develop these important life skills and apply them in multiple settings.
This year, the Sorrick Family Focus will feature a series of resources and activities that you can implement at home to support your child's social-emotional development. Each weekly update will feature themed resources around topics like dealing with challenging behavior, understanding emotions, engaging in daily routines, following directions, solving problems, sharing with peers, and much more. Below, you will find our first featured resources which focus on dealing with challenging behavior. We hope that you find these resources beneficial! Please reach out if you have any specific requests for featured topics in future weekly updates.
