What Has Been Happening in Mrs. Hall's Classes?
It has been a great start to the school year in our ELA class! We began the year with learning about the value of reading/writing in our daily lives. Students learned that reading and writing daily can improve their overall cognitive ability, reduce stress, process information, and enhance communication skills. Moreover, students have learned that reading is the cornerstone of becoming a lifelong learner.
Next, students transitioned into a unit study reading the novel “Bud Not Buddy” which is about a young orphan boy, who lost his mother at an early age and begins a search for his father. Along the way, he learns the importance of personal transformation during hardships. Many students demonstrated their knowledge of this transformation by actively participating in digital learning, socratic/learning opportunities, writing opportunities and an independent study of their own personal transformations. The unit was a success and the learning/knowledge that students acquired along the way proved to be a lesson that students will take with them as they learn to grow and become successful in life.
First Table Rewarded From Our November Cafeteria Behavior Focus
During the month of November, students have been working on cafeteria behavior. We reviewed the expectations of staying seated, maintaining an acceptable volume, and keeping your area clean. Mr. Handerhan made football fields for each lunch and breakfast. Each table has their own football and they have the chance to earn 5 yards for each of the expectations being followed each day (possibility of 15 yards a day).
When a table scores a touchdown, they are invited down to ur PBIS game room during WIN. Mrs. Hall's 6th period ELA class (5th period lunch) was the first to score a touchdown and went to the gameroom on Monday.
We are looking forward to celebrating more tables this week. We have so many that are close! Keep up the great work Scott students!
