FIRST SEMESTER -
Students K-5 will have a choice of 1% white milk OR fat free chocolate milk. First semester milk will begin on Monday, August 29, 2022 through Friday, January 13, 2023. The cost will be $0.40 per day @ 88 days or $35.20 for the first semester. Payments can be made when logging into PowerSchool and selecting SchoolPay or by dropping a check off in the office. Please indicate your child's name and beverage choice in the memo on your check.
FREE SCHOOL MEALS EXPIRED
A waiver from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has enabled schools across the nation, including Fargo Public Schools, to provide all students free meals since the COVID-19 pandemic first disrupted K–12 education in March of 2020. The free school meal benefits expired the last school day of the 2021–2022 school year.
What does this mean for families? In the fall of 2022, meals will return to paid-for status.
Therefore, effective for the 2022-23 school year, families will need to pay full price for student meals or fill out an application to qualify for free or reduced price meals. Payments can be made in PowerSchool or a check can be dropped off at the Bennett office.
With the free meals expiring, the Board of Education set meal prices for the 2022-23 school year. The prices are:
- Elementary Breakfast $1.45
- Elementary Lunch $2.45
- Extra Milk $0.40
Grab and go breakfast will continue to be available for students each morning. They will now be charged to the student account.
Free and Reduced Price Meals Application
Households wishing to apply for Free or Reduced-Price Meals may apply by submitting a Student Fees Assistance and Benefits Application. It is only necessary to submit one application per household.
In addition to receiving free and reduced price meals, households can receive additional benefits including:
- Waived band rentals, activity fees, exam fees, and others
- Increase funding to the district for educational programs through Title 1 funding, foundation aid, e-rate for technology grands, and others
For more information about Free or Reduced-Priced Meals or the Student Fees Assistance and Benefits Application, visit the FPS Nutritional Services Department website. If you need assistance with the application, call FPS Nutrition Services at 701.446.1153.
ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
Please help us with our daily attendance by calling the school if your child is absent. By calling the school we are able to insure that your child is safe and accounted for each day.
Please call the office (446-4000) or email Robyn Thorvilson at thorvir@fargo.k12.nd.us.
If your child arrives at school after the bell rings at 8:05 AM, they will need to stop in the office to get a tardy slip before going to the classroom.
APPOINTMENTS: If you need to pick up your student for an appointment during the school day, come to door 15 and ring the security bell to enter the school. Your child will be called down to the office and you may sign them out at that time.
ANNUAL REGISTRATION FORMS
As you may know, all Fargo Public Schools parents need to complete their children’s annual registration forms and make fee payments online. Access to these online forms and fee payments will be through the Fargo Schools PowerSchool site. PowerSchool also gives parents access to their child’s attendance records and progress reports. Please visit www.fargo.k12.nd.us and click on the PowerSchool icon to complete registration. If you need assistance updating your child’s registration, call the school office at 701-446-4000 or come into the school office and use the computer station so office staff can help you through this process.
