SWISD Launches Mobile App
Southwest ISD is thrilled to announce the new SWISD mobile app! This new mobile app will
help students, parents, and community members know what is happening around the District
and on campus from their phones.
Most families use their phones as a primary means of communication, so we've created an app that is custom-built for our schools for smartphones. On the app, students, parents, and the community can read the latest announcements, locate staff contact information, review upcoming events, find important documents, news from administrators, student stories, and even emergency notifications. Always be in the know, with Southwest ISD on the go!
The Southwest ISD app is available to download free from the Apple App Store or the Google
Play store. Always be in the know, with Southwest ISD on the go!
You can download the app for free on Google Play or Apple App Store.

KSAT 12 Leads Science Lesson at Spicewood Park ES
Spicewood Park ES 5th graders welcomed KSAT 12’s Sarah Spivey and David Sears in the science lab. Students participated in the Science with Sarah experiment named “Dough-y Circuits.” Through this experiment, students learned which dough was conductive and which dough was inductive. Play-doh is conductive because it contains lots and lots of salt. Salt transports electricity easily.
Science with Sarah features fun, DIY experiments for kid scientists and families. If you’d like Sarah and David to come to your school and conduct a science experiment live on KSAT, email sciencewithsarah@ksat.com.
Helicopter Landing Kicks Off Red Ribbon Week at Elm Creek ES
As part of Red Ribbon week's kickoff, the Texas National Guard Joint Counter Drug Task Force landed a helicopter at Elm Creek Elementary and spoke with our students about the dangers of drugs. In addition, 3rd through 5th-grade students learned about some methods used to sell drugs to individuals and to remind students to be mindful when they are offered candy or other treats from people they do not know. All students got to take class pictures with the helicopter pilots and watch them as they landed and took off from the campus. 5th-grade student Isaiah Hernandez, said, "I see helicopters in movies all the time, but it's cool to see one up close. It's very exciting!"
