5th Grade Orientation
Staying Connected through Middle School
Welcome Incoming 6th Graders and Parents!
This evening will include information about middle school, 6th grade curriculum, and activities offered to 6th grade students at Granger Middle School. Following a brief introduction, there will be three voluntary informational sessions for parents regarding:
1. Organization and Middle School Parenting
2. Cyber Education
3. Middle School Guidance Department
*The evening will begin in the gymnasium along with break-out schedules and locations.
*These breakout sessions will take place following Orientation in the gymnasium
*Incoming 6th graders are invited to attend a special session with our Grizzleaders during the orientation evening.

This night will begin at 6:00 pm in the gymnasium with Ms. Fiorenza welcoming all incoming 6th grade parents and students. Ms. Fiorenza will address all subject areas and general information about Granger Middle School.
The breakout sessions will begin at 6:20 pm. They will include organization/ parenting a middle schooler, cyber education, and information from Granger's guidance department. All sessions will be geared toward middle school parents and students, giving helpful tips to support a positive middle school experience.
All incoming 6th grade students are invited for an opportunity to meet with our student leadership team The GRIZZLEADERS for discussions about middle school, how to get involved, and be successful! The student session with the Grizzleads will be held at the same time as the 6th grade orientation for parents.
Internet Safety Specialist, Melissa Hemzacek from High Crimes Bureau of the Illinois Attorney General's Office will be speaking on Internet Safety- Your Child's Digital Footprint.
Organize/ Parenting a Middle Schooler
Homework and parenting tips, school supplies, time management, and locker and binder organization.
Guidance Department Support
Information about the role of the guidance department and support through middle school.
