ADMINISTRATION UPDATE
Dear CCS Friends and Families,
School experiences are always a healthy mix of new and old, where we work together to combine foundational, traditional experiences with new and innovative opportunities for our students. This week has been another wonderful week of learning, including a few special events that are a mix of tradition and innovation.
New and Innovative!
On Sunday, a team of CCS students attended the Vermont FIRST Lego Robotics Championships. To compete, the students had to complete a set of 15 robot challenges that they coded and engineered themselves, and complete a team project and present it to judges. The CCS team project looked at how we could improve accessibility for the CCS playground for students of all abilities. They have a plan that they hope to bring to the school board after further refining it. The CCS team also had to complete a team challenge in front of judges to demonstrate their collaboration skills and give a presentation explaining their engineering and coding solutions. The CCS team earned the Rookie Inspiration Award, which celebrates a rookie team’s outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering and engineers, both within their school, as well as in their community. As a first year robotics they did an amazing job - laying a great foundation for future CCS teams! This year’s CCS Robotics Team members include Raxa Tariyal, Hadley Bergeson, Sarah Stein, Alden Valjevac, Max Ford, Leah Rauch, Deacon Brown and Kyle Franko - coached by Allan Miller.
Students have been engaged in an awesome Hour of Code week here at CCS. One highlight of this opportunity featured fifth grade students coding micro:bit microprocessors for the age-old competition of rock, paper, scissors with a speaker circuit. Traditions Continuing!
Last Saturday, our CCS PTO hosted our annual Holiday Market, featuring artisans and vendors selling amazing items! The Holiday Market supports the many great PTO contributions to our school.
On Wednesday, CCS school SAP Amy Sayre, took a group of middle school students to the Empower Youth Leadership Conference in South Burlington. This leadership opportunity began about four years ago, initiated by former CCS educators Mary Muroski and Kathy Batty. CCS students in attendance at this year’s conference were Apryl Tuiqere, Annie Learned, Lilyanna Mittlestadt, William Cervi, Charlie Miner and Alexis Pearce.
Yesterday, members from the Charlotte Grange visited third graders and presented each student in third grade with a dictionary. This is an annual event, having happened for at least the past 15 years! We appreciate the community investment in our students!
We wish everyone a wonderful weekend!
Kind Regards,
Stephanie, Jen and Cassandra

If your child(ren) will be 5 years old by September 1, 2020 they are eligible to attend kindergarten at Charlotte Central School for the 2020/2021 school year.

THINK GLOBAL, ACT LOCALLY!
Hunger can seem far away, but we have children right here in our schools whose families struggle to keep them fed. Federal guidelines for the free lunch are less generous than we think. A single mom who makes $32,000 will find that her child is not eligible! These families can fall behind in making payments to the foodservice program, but tight budgets require us to continue to send them bills. Can you help make the holidays a little brighter for food-insecure families in our community? Make a donation by sending a check in to your school with "help feed hungry kids" on the memo line. An option to make donations right in MySchoolBucks is coming soon!
CVSD BUDGET MEETINGS
CVSD budget meetings will be held starting in November and continuing into January. Members of the CVSD communities are welcome to attend any and all meetings.
HOLIDAY DONATION TOY BOX LOCATED IN CCS LOBBY
Donation suggestions: gift cards, toy robots, remote control toys, games, manicure sets, t-shirts, gloves, socks for teens.
The holiday toy box will remain until at CCS until December 18th.
Thank you for your generosity.
