Dear West TV families,
Thank you so much for showering us with gifts, kind words, and amazing treats during Staff Appreciation Week! I would like to thank Heather Sorensen, Amy Bradford and the PTC for making sure that our staff felt the love especially during this very difficult year. We looked forward to a yummy breakfast on Monday, personalized notes and artwork on Tuesday, a bouquet of flowers on Thursday and lunch from Panera on Friday. We also enjoyed treats from other parents as well - candy, donuts and more...thank you all!
Every day I feel so fortunate to be the principal in this most supportive community. Thank you for showing us that you care and appreciate the work that we have done this year. Your recognition means so much to all of us.
Save the date!
Our 5th graders will be invited to participate in a car parade on the last day of school (Friday, June 18) to celebrate their final day as Allstars. The parade will start at the school - at 5:30pm and then travel through the West TV neighborhood. The staff will cheer for them as they drive through the school parking lot and families can cheer for them as they drive through the West TV neighborhood! A map of the car parade route will be coming soon!
Thank you to all the families and community members who came to Bingo Night - it was a huge success! I'd like to give a special thank you to the many volunteers who organized this fun event: Sarah Loumena, Karri Iverson, Jenny Jenkins, Amy Flaxel, Jason Cowart, Jenna Sells, Sara Barber, and Tom Losch - thank you all for your time and energy to make this happen!
At the end of this school year, Mrs. Martin (Principal's Secretary), Mrs. Van Kleek (Library Media Assistant) and Mrs. Gray (SCC Paraprofessional II) will be retiring. We will miss them dearly and appreciate their years of contribution to West TV!
Staffing changes for next year
Next year each elementary school will have an additional Student Success Coach/Intervention teacher. Our 3rd grade teacher Darleen Anderson will be moving into this role and our Kindergarten teacher Katie Hoffman will be moving to 3rd grade.
I'll be sending the final newsletter for this school year in mid-June. As additional information comes my way this summer regarding next school year, I'll be sure to keep you informed with updates!

Field Day This Year
Annual BSD Parent Survey
The 2021 Annual Parent Survey is now open!
The Parent Survey is for everyone who has a child in the Beaverton School District. Our goal is to ensure that every member of our school community feels welcomed, valued, and informed, so it is important for all parent/guardians to complete the survey.
This survey is voluntary. You may opt out of completing the survey at any time. All survey data will be summarized so that each person who answers will remain anonymous. Nothing in the survey or District software will be used to identify you.
It is OK to go back and change your answer to a previous question, but you must finish the survey in one sitting.
The survey closes on Wednesday, June 2. *The link to the survey was mailed to families on Sunday, May 16 by the district.
These surveys are extremely important, and results are shared with the School Board and community each year. Thank you in advance for participating in the Parent Survey!
Beaverton Safe Routes to School Parent Surveys
Dear West Tualatin View Parents and Guardians,
It’s data collection time again for Beaverton’s Safe Routes to School program. The purpose of this program is to make walking and biking to school safe, convenient, and fun.
Parent’s and guardian’s input into how students travel to and from schools and their impression of the safety of the route is valuable as the city and county prioritize needed improvements for our roads.
The following link was generated from the National Safe Routes to School Center and will be used to give us a good picture of how students are getting to and from schools throughout the district.
The school’s survey will be open for responses until May 31.
We appreciate your help in giving us information to make our program effective for all Beaverton School District students.

School Supply Packs for next year
Each Spring we offer an opportunity for families to purchase the school supplies that teachers have requested for next school year. We have used this company for several years and they do a great job for us. This is a convenient way for families to avoid the stores before school begins but it is not required (it is optional). See below for ordering information. The School Supply Lists for 21-22 are also below.
* * *
It's time to order school supplies for next year! Supplies will be bundled and shipped directly to school next fall and will be distributed to each student in time for the first day of classes.
Go to: www.educationalproducts.com/shoppacks and enter West TV's school ID WES632.
Please also consider purchasing a few "donation packs" to help us pay for school supply kits for our West TV students in need. These are $5 "packs" that you can add to your child's order.
Questions can be directed to Jami Keene, the parent who is coordinating this service: email@example.com

COVID-19 test "Abbott BinaxNOW"
The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) supports COVID-19 testing in public and private K-12 schools in Oregon for students and staff who display symptoms of COVID-19. The Beaverton School District has registered to have Abbott BinaxNOW rapid antigen testing available for students and staff who develop primary symptoms of COVID-19 at school. Primary symptoms of Covid-19 include:
New or different than usual shortness of breath
New or different than usual coughing
Fever of 100.4 or higher
New loss of taste or smell.
The Abbott BinaxNOW test will only be administered to students who have consent from their parent(s) or legal guardian on file. The student must be capable and willing to perform a nasal swab test independently. The parent(s) or guardian can decline testing and opt to test their child with a healthcare provider. If there is any doubt as to whether a specimen may be safely self-collected by an individual, they should be referred to their healthcare provider for COVID-19 testing. Positive test results will be shared with the Local Public Health Authority to assist in contact tracing.
If you would like your child to participate in this testing program, please complete and return the consent form to the school office. You can find the consent form at this link: https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/departments/public-safety/emergency-preparedness/coronavirus/return-to-in-person-instruction/covid-19-health-safety-guidance under the COVID-19 Testing Information. For further information on the Abbot BinaxNOW rapid antigen test see the following link: FDA information on BinaxNOW test.
