Self Reporting of Positive Cases
As we continue virtual learning and head into winter break, we appreciate the partnership with our community to mitigate the spread of the virus. This includes accurate reporting of new positive cases within our school community. The district has created a form for self reporting. We ask that you continue to report any new cases at the following link:

Hi HPE families!
Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the way that both students and adults learn and practice the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to: understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
Cultivating the social and emotional competencies of all members of a school community is important for creating models for student social and emotional growth. The Collaborative for Academic Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) has identified five core SEL competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making.
After winter break, I will be starting a monthly parent session to dive deeper into these SEL topics. Please fill out this form to let me know you are interested. https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=PkZ4tvvZX0eBU43PqJYEfb7TnGK8TZNMu9XvLbMEpFpUNDlHUkg2UFM4RDdIQVQxUjhCMDNWREpRQi4u
If you are interested in learning more about social emotional learning topics and how they can be implemented at home and/or school, please fill out this form. Monthly zoom meetings will be held to foster discussion and share ideas about how to best support the social emotional health of our students. This will be a great opportunity to connect with other HPE families! Other information may be sent out periodically. More information to come! Questions? Please contact Miss Magill- rmagill@hse.k12.in.us

HPE Curbside: Expanded Pick Up Times
Do you need more books to read and enjoy at home? Virtual learners can use HSE Curbside service to borrow books from the library.
Beginning on Monday, November 30, all students will be able to place up to 4 books on hold weekly. Our new pick up hours are going to be Monday- Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
There will be a book cart in the front vestibule. The curbside pick up book cart is organized alphabetically by last name. All book stacks will have a name tag to help you easily locate your books.
You can just walk in, grab your book stack, and go. No need to sign in or check in with the office. There will also be a book bin for you to return materials as you finish with them.
Books will be ready for pick up the day after you place your holds. So if you place your holds on Monday, they will be ready for pick up by 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Books will have a two week loan period.

Support Our Library
Birthday books with donor plates are also available. You can purchase at any time, even if your child's birthday has passed. Students love seeing their name and friends' names in books in the library.

Easy Ways to Help the PTO
Cut your Box Tops for Education and send them to school with your student at any time. Visit www.boxtops4education.com for a list of products.
If you shop on Amazon or at Kroger, check out these completely free and zero effort ways to raise money for the HPE PTO. The prices are the same, the service is the same, you shop the same way, but a portion of the purchase price will be donated to the PTO, that’s it!
On Amazon, just go to smile.amazon.com/ch/20-0114174 to link your account to the PTO and then check out using smile.amazon.com everytime--you cannot access this through an app so fill up your cart and then open a browser to check out or shop directly on smile.amazon.com.
For Kroger, login to your online account or create one using the Kroger Plus Card number you already have or get a new one. Then go to www.kroger.com/communityrewards and enroll in Community Rewards. Search for “VA241” and select “HARRISON PARKWAY ELEMENTARY - PTO.” Then scan your Kroger Plus Card or enter your alternate ID every time you check out just like you always have.
