19-20 Kindergarten Screener/Visit
Welcome to Amanda Moore Elementary School, home of the Bulldogs! We are honored you selected Amanda Moore Elementary School and we take the responsibility of providing your child with exciting and engaging educational experience very seriously. The transition from preschool or home to kindergarten is a very important one and our work make that transition as smooth as possible begins now!
Our outstanding team of educators have developed a transition activity which contains 4 valuable experiences designed to aid your child in the transition.
Experience 1- A classroom visit where you and your child can witness our current kindergarten teachers and students in action so you have a clear idea of what next year will be like.
Experience 2 - Engaging families in literacy a brief meeting with Mrs. Tobiczyk our reading specialist while children play.
Experience 3 - A school readiness screener (a brief assessment of readiness skills to aid in class assignments for the fall) and a gift a school readiness games and manipulatives to help you prepare your child for the fall.
Experience 4 - School tour with a snack in the cafeteria.
Our visit is scheduled for Tuesday, May 7, 2019. You can select from a morning session (8:30-10:30) or an afternoon session (12:30-2:30).
We know not everyone will be able to attend on Tuesday so we have three other abbreviated visits available. The other visits will only be one hour in duration and certain portions of the experience such as #2 will be eliminated while others will be shortened.
We look forward to seeing everyone in May!
Green School Environmental Tip
Spring clean the natural way.
Now that you've cleared the clutter and can actually see those countertops and hardwood floors, you still have to scrub off the grit and grime from the winter (ick!).
But harsh fumes from some traditional cleaners may do more harm than good: They can be responsible for around 10 percent of toxic exposures reported to poison control centers and are difficult to dispose of properly.
You can most likely find "green" or "natural" cleaning products at your grocery store. But you can save some money and make your own cleaning product from supplies you already have.
For spray cleaner: Combine and store in a spray bottle 2 cups water 1/4 cup white vinegar; 1/4 tsp. tea tree oil; 1/4 tsp. lavender oil
For deodorizing cleaning: Mix one part vinegar and one part water in a spray bottle to clean countertops, floors, stovetops and other appliances. Scrub dishes, surfaces and stains with a lemon that has been cut in half and sprinkled with baking soda on the flat side
Keep in mind that homemade cleaners may not completely eliminate all bacteria, such as the H1N1 virus. Be sure you read your product's label and follow the instructions as directed.
