Stronger Than You Know
by: Jolene Perry
Stronger Than You Know is an insiring book about a young girl named Joy who was terribly abused by her mother. Finally the police arrested her mother and Joy is now safe and out of her hands. Even though Joy is away from her mom, she still has to face all the haunting memories of the horrid times. She has to deal with anxiety and depression because she is paranoid that everyone will turn out to be like her mom. She lives with her aunt, uncle, and cousins and is slowly recovering finding friends. Just as she starts to feel safer, she finds out that she has to go on trial and fight against her mother.
I really like how the author wrote this book. How Jolene Perry included the main characters journal entries was one of my favorite parts of the book.
This is a website with the author telling us about the book.
Another good review site.
A website that you can order the book and find reviews from other people who have read it.
A website of facts about child abuse. (That is what the book is about)
A Child Called It
by: Dave Pelzer. This book is similar to Stronger Than You Know because they are both about kids getting abused by their mothers and tells about how they lived through it and how they got rescued from it.
by: Sarah Aronson. This book is similar to Stronger Than You Know because they are both about someone going through and surviving something so terrible. They both are working on forgetting the past and just to get better. They both have people there for her and cheering her on to fight to get mentally stable again.
Not Without My Sister
by: Kristina Jones, Celester Jones, and Juliana Buhring. This book is related a little to Stronger Than You Know because they are both about children getting abused and how cruel it is. They both tell us how much damage abuse can give a chidl.
