RPHS COMMENCEMENT FOR CLASS OF 2021
Dear Class of 2021 Students, Parents, and Guardians,
We hope this correspondence finds you and your family doing well. Now that second semester is underway, we felt that it would be an opportune time to start the conversation of Commencement for the Class of 2021 as we are certain that many of you are eager to start the planning process for your own respective celebration / family gathering. We want to thank each of you for your patience as we continue to navigate the unique situation that has been created by the Covid-19 pandemic, and we want you to know that the administrative team and staff at RPHS are committed to planning and providing a quality graduation ceremony for this year’s seniors. With this being said, the Raymore-Peculiar School District has decided to once again host commencement at our football stadium with graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2021 being planned for the following times:
Friday, May 21st at 7:30 pm for our seniors who are designated as A-Day students
Saturday, May 22nd at 7:30 pm for our seniors who are designated as B-Day students.
(For those seniors who are currently in the ViPR program, the A-Day or B-Day designation can be determined by the Family ID that is assigned to your student. Students with a Family ID number that is even are considered A-Day students while students with a Family ID number that is odd are considered B-Day students.)
Should we encounter inclement weather on Friday, May 21st and be forced to postpone for the evening, the commencement ceremony for our A-Day students will be rescheduled for Sunday, May 23rd at 5:00 pm.
Should we encounter inclement weather on Saturday, May 22nd and be forced to postpone for the evening, the commencement ceremony for our B-Day students will be rescheduled for Sunday, May 23rd at 7:30 pm.
In regard to inclement weather, we will closely monitor the forecast and do our very best to make any decision to postpone in a timely fashion. Any decision to postpone would be sent out by email, Twitter, and the RP Update as well as by a telephone call through Schoolreach.
By providing these definitive dates and times, we are hoping to help our prospective graduates schedule and plan their own family celebrations without the fear of potential conflicts. Should social distancing requirements and other mandates be relaxed in the future, we will still plan on staying with dual ceremonies so that no one's plans need to be altered.
We will, of course, continue to closely monitor guidance from both state and local authorities to help inform our decisions and planning. With these considerations in mind, we are currently outlining two scenarios for the commencement program itself. Specific details for each contingency plan are provided below:
Scenario 1 -- If the current guidelines for social distancing remain in place, then each graduate will be provided 4 tickets for family and friends to attend.
Scenario 2 -- If the current guidelines for social distancing are relaxed, then each graduate may be provided up to10 tickets for family and friends to attend.
Regardless of the number of tickets provided to each student, all ceremonies will be live-streamed so that those family members and friends who cannot attend will be able to watch the ceremony at home.
While we certainly do not want to limit the number of guests that a student can bring to the graduation ceremony, our first and foremost consideration must be with the health and welfare of our students, faculty, and patrons. Therefore, we are asking families to initially plan on receiving only 4 tickets. The 4-ticket option would still place approximately 2,300 individuals in our stadium for each graduation ceremony.
A specific process for distribution of the tickets as well as further details about end of year senior activities and other events related to graduation will be provided in future correspondence. At this time we simply wanted to get a definitive plan with dates out to the seniors and their families. We ask for your continued patience as we work through further details and planning of the Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2021, and we thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
GO PANTHERS AND GO CLASS OF 2021!!!
