Troy students perform with Albany Symphony

On March 10, students from all five Troy CSD elementary schools, as well members of the 6th Grade Choir, performed at the Palace Theater with the Albany Symphony Orchestra. The student group performed The Mighty Erie Canal, a children’s operetta based on the story of the Erie Canal. The performance celebrated the Erie Canal’s bicentennial and the orchestra’s upcoming Kennedy Center debut at SHIFT: Festival of American Orchestras. Learn more.

My Brother's Keeper prepares young men for life

My Brother's Keeper is a mentor program at School 12 that focuses on eliminating opportunity gaps faced by disadvantaged youth, particularly young boys of color. Troy’s Alternative Learning Program is seeing student academic and behavioral improvements thanks to the program. Learn more.

School 18 STEM Day

On March 23, School 18 students spent the day learning about various Science, Technology, Engineering and Math concepts. Examples included robotics, keyboarding, Minecraft and more.

'Troy Leads Troy' in professional development

On Friday, March 16, Troy City School District staff from all eight buildings converged at Troy Middle School for a “Troy Leads Troy” professional development day led almost exclusively by our own staff. Learn more.

Troy High Drama Club presents 'Once On This Island'

The Troy High School Drama Club presented their spring musical, "Once On This Island." More than 50 students recreated the Cariggean adaption of The Little Mermaid. The Drama Club will also be participating in the High School Musical Theater Awards at Proctor’s Theater in Schenectady on May 19.

'Troybotics' team competes at RPI

The Troy High School Robotics Team, aka “Troybotics,” competed at the Fifth Annual New York Tech Valley Regional FIRST Robotics Competition March 15 – 18. They competed along with 33 other times from high schools in the Capital Region, New York State, Brazil and Canada.

School 2 hosts talk show style assembly

School 2 students enjoyed a special P.R.O.M.I.S.E. assembly held "talk show style" with our host "Keem the Dream" AKA Mr. Lakime Meadows, "Coach Oh So Clean" AKA physical ed teacher Tony Fruscio and "The Dee Jay" AKA 5th Grader Dayanna Floyd. Thank you to our special guests, Superintendent John Carmello who praised students for their hard work and perseverance in both school and at home; and school monitor Mr. Derrick Mauzon who discussed the importance of school safety. 2018-2019 Budget Development in process

On Tuesday, May 15, residents in the Troy City School District will vote on a proposed 2018-2019 budget. Now that the State has passed their budget, the District can finalize its own with accurate State Aid figures. Draft 3 of the budget will be presented to the Board of Education on Wednesday, April 11. Please visit our Budget webpage for details.

Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorders: The Basics – April 17

Join us at School 16 on Tuesday, April 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for an overview of Autism Spectrum Disorders. Participants will gain a basic understanding of how ASD characteristics can impact children in the school, community, and home environments. Learn more.
