HIV/AIDS in Africa

Sub Saharan Africa
Sub Saharan Africa had 69% of all people with HIV living in Sub Saharan AfrIca and 70% of all AIDS deaths in 2011. In the mid-1980s, HIV and AIDS were virtually unheard of in southern Africa. Zimbabwe's first reported case of HIV was in 1985.
North Africa
HIV in North Africa is among the lowest rates in the world. Unlike South Saharan Africa which is among the most people with AIDS in the entire world.
South Africa
In the country of South Africa about 5.6 million people living with HIV, more than any other in the world. South Africa has about 15% of its people living with HIV/AIDS.
