Defer Dragon's Burning News

From the Principal
Dear Defer Families,
The Defer "one and done" fundraiser continues to demonstrate the generosity of our community! Students receive a Defer Fun Run frisbee just for registering and many students won raffle prizes throughout the week. Your donations support our school programs, subscriptions, apps, technology, flexible seating and much more for all students at Defer. Thank you to our PTO, the Fun Run Coordinators, and every family for your support. The week ended with a PJ Day celebration! Many classes earned a pizza party and we are over halfway to our fundraising goal! Great work Defer!
Have a great weekend!
Dr. Rheaume

Drop Off and Pick Up Reminders
- We want to encourage our students and families to cross Kercheval and the surrounding streets safely. It is important to use the crosswalks and crossing guards available.
- There is No Parking on Kercheval in front of the building.
- There is No Parking along either side of Nottingham near Defer. Parking on the west side of Nottingham is allowed only during posted times and locations.
- Please do not use the Staff Parking lot for drop off or pick up of students (Kids Club drop off before/after school only)
- Since there is no parking anywhere on the east side of Nottingham, parents can drop off students at any point along the full length of Nottingham from Vernor to Kercheval on the Defer side of the street. You do not need to wait until you get in front of the Defer gate to drop off or pick up your child.
- Bottom line---Please Stop, Drop and Go! This will help the traffic to flow smoothly.

Safe Routes to School Parent Survey
As part of our Safe Routes to School Grant application, students and parents are completing online surveys. Here is the link to the quick parent survey for Defer parents. Students will take the online survey in class and teachers will conduct a quick tally to see how many students are walking or biking to school currently.
The parent survey will close October 4. We need your input to effectively plan our application. Thank you for participating!
Please contact Dr. Rheaume if you have any questions or would like more information about the survey or the committee.
