Dear Kinnaman Community,
As we wrap up the school year, we have taken the time to reflect back on all the tremendous growth we have witnessed since last August. We have had the opportunity to witness our students progress academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. We have forged new relationships, and will soon watch the first fifth grade class of our tenure here at Kinnaman move on to middle school.
It has been such a pleasure to become members of the Kinnaman community. We have been welcomed by so many, and feel fortunate to work with such dedicated community members, families, and staff. We are looking forward to the 2019-2020 school year as we continue our focus on the math workshop model, social-emotional learning, and adjusting our practices to meet the ever-changing needs of our student population.
We have much to be excited about this next school year! A few things coming down the pipeline include:
- Headstart will offer two full-day pre-k classes in our building (transportation will be provided). If you are interested in enrolling your child, applications are available in our office.
- We plan to open a wellness room for student success in the fall.
- The YMCA will operate before and after school care here at Kinnaman in the cafeteria.
- We are partnering with the Oregon Food Bank to open a School Pantry for our community which will also operate here in our building.
It is going to be an incredible year!
Please remember that our school calendar for the 2019-2020 school year has been adjusted. We will begin our first day of school after Labor Day on September 3, 2019. Also noteworthy, there will be no early release Wednesdays next school year. In order to have time to meet with our entire staff, we will not be opening the building to students until 8:10 a.m. next school year. Enjoy your summer!

State Test Scores in ParentVUE
State test scores are available in ParentVUE two weeks after both parts of the ELA or math test are completed. Science scores will not be available until next fall after passing scores are identified by the Oregon Department of Education. The Testing Information tab in ParentVUE has links to additional information about your child’s scores.
The following is a message from Jessica Dunn:
To our wonderful Kinnaman Community,
June 14th marks the end of ten years for my family here at Kinnaman. I have had the honor of not only volunteering in the classrooms of many of our great teachers over the years, but also serving on the PTO; first as the vice president, then volunteer coordinator, and for these last two years, president. What a privilege it has been to be a part of this school!
I have enjoyed getting to know your children and watching them grow alongside my own. I will dearly miss the little waves I receive when I walk into the classroom, or the random hugs when we cross paths in the hallway. I am leaving you all in the very capable hands of our new PTO board for the next two years.
