My Goals

Schools with the Brain in Mind

For many teachers, their goal is to "make a difference". They not only want to change the lives of their students, they want to change the face of education. I have identified 3 goals that I would like to take with me into my future teaching and educationally based experiences. They are as follows:

Incorporate the Arts & Dramatic Play

The arts can help students to master standards by: enhancing creativity, increasing self-confidence, promoting collaboration, and offering alternative way to assess learning. I use visual arts often around the holidays and in writing, but drama is missing in reading. My goal is to incorporate more drama/ dramatic play into the English Language Arts.

Sharing & Staff Development

I've learned about so many valuable and practical tools this term between both of my classes. I plan to share the resources with my colleagues at an upcoming staff meeting and future Teacher In-Service Day.

Advancements in Assessment

Assessment is an integral part of instruction, as it determines whether or not the goals of education are being met. Assessment affects decisions about grades, placement, advancement, instructional needs, and curriculum. There are so many ways to assess students and I have so many I can still learn about and try. My goal is to continue to investigate and use a variety of assessments.
