Huge THANKS goes out to our teams running the Rummage Sale and the Book Fair!
The Rummage Sale was a big success, bringin in nearly $6000. Special thanks goes out to Kacy Bradshaw and Shelley Sheppard, as well as to all the volunteers.
The Book Fair reached record breaking sales of $13,200. The school library will receive $3500 of books and cash, and $125 worth of books were donated to our ALL FOR BOOKS charity at McKinley Elementary School. A special thanks goes out to Emily Ellis and Ms. Loiacano!
Notice of Statewide Tests and Opt Out
Every year, Oregon students take assessments prescribed by the State Department of Education. The purpose of these assessments is to provide data that schools can use to ensure each and every child is on track and achieving learning goals. Results are also used to inform course placement and provide focused feedback to students and parents.
State law requires us to inform you that a form is available from the Oregon Department of Education that allows you to opt your child out of the Math and English Language Arts assessments for the 2019-20 school year. Should you wish to opt out your child, fill out the form and submit it to the main office at your child’s school. Please note the submission deadline of January 1, 2020. Meeting this deadline will help your child's school with planning and preparation, and is particularly critical for 11th graders who test earlier than other students.
If you have questions or want more information about state assessments, please contact your child’s principal or teacher(s).

OBOB Signups Open Until November 22
Parents of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders: hopefully you have seen info about Oregon Battle of the Books, a fun and engaging reading competition that is run by the Forest Hills PTO. Please start talking to your child about whether they wish to participate and encourage them to talk to friends and form a team of 3-5 kids at school.
To sign up, visit the FH PTO website or click on this Sign-up link to register your team, find a book list and get more info on OBOB. The signup link to register your child for a team will be available on the PTO website from October 1 - November 22.
Please contact Kristy Cory at kristycory@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.
