#AlltheWayUp

I am extremely excited about this week because it is Teacher Appreciation Week. It is a time where we are able to recognize the work done by each one of you and the impact you continue to have in the lives of our Rams.

I am happy that you are one of the staff members here at Thomas J. Rusk Middle School; I enjoy seeing you in action teaching and/or interacting with kids. You are a role model that inspire our young Rams to dream, to study, and to work hard. You wear many hats each and every day; you are a teacher, confidant, counselor, nurse, heart healer, cheerleader, advocate, and motivator to name a few.

As we engage in the various events to celebrate you, let's make sure that we stay focus on preparing our students for success. We need to get our students as ready as possible for the next grade level; therefore,

  • let's teach and hold students accountable for the learning
  • let's challenge students by exposing them to high level tasks, HOTS questioning, and engage them in habits of discussion.
  • let's be prepared by having materials and lesson plan ready, having questions available, making learning relevant, and knowing or anticipating students' misconceptions

Look forward to continuing to see focused teaching and learning taking advantage of every single minute as we prepare our students for the next grade level.

Thank you so much for continuing to shape dramatically the lives of our children by providing awesome and meaningful learning experiences. Thank you for helping reach and stretch the potential of each one of our Rams. Thank you for all that you do to impact the lives of our kids!!! You rock! You are awesome! You are number one!

Attendance Matters

Regular attendance is essential to providing students with opportunities to learn. The grade level with the highest attendance for the last week is 6th grade with 96.89%. Second week in a row! Let's continue to encourage our students to be present and on time!!!

Thank you

  • Ms. Woods and the Attendance for Credit Committee for their hard work and dedication. During the last audit, we received great feedback; the binder was ready with student plans and committee documentation in place.
  • All teachers and staff who attended Saturday School. We had our last session this weekend and our students showed their desire of continuing to learn and take advantage of every single minute available to them.
  • Ms. Wells and her husband for treating our teachers and staff to breakfast during Saturday School. I know everyone who participated enjoyed it.
  • Ms. Baker for all her support and dedication during the ACE showcase. She planned the classroom visits and rotations as well as coordinated the logistics of the event.
  • Ms. Hayes for her leadership with our cheerleaders as they greeted our special guests during the AVID and ACE visits.
  • Ms. Blanks for her leadership and initiative as 8th grade prepares for the end of the year activities. She was highlighted in a recent story in Channel 8 WFAA. The response from the community was tremendous; we have received several calls and donations to support our 8th grade students. See the link above if you missed the story.

Ms. Ingram
