May 4, 2020: Distance Learning Week 5
Strand Spotlights and Info:
Dear Voyager Families,
We hope you and your family are well and safe! Thank you for doing what is best for your family's health and well-being. We know there are many questions about what next year's school year will look like and when it will begin. We are beginning planning discussions in our district this week and will keep you informed. In the meantime, continue to stay connected with your teachers and communicate needs and challenges. Our counselor Sophia Frost is available for social-emotional support, as well as counselors at CORONADO SAFE (see section below), and our MFLC Marie Millard can be reached at 619-592-0093.
Next week is TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK! Please show your love for your teachers by making signs to show during your Zoom calls, dropping off cards at the school office, and/or sending teachers special messages throughout the week. Teachers are meant to be with their students, but ours are loving and supporting you from afar. Thank you, Voyager Staff, for all you do!! And thank you to our SSES PTO, who is providing lunch and gift cards for staff on Friday May 8.
Next Wednesday is our Coronado Schools Foundation Telethon! You can watch from home and see some of your teachers make you laugh, our TK and kindergarteners dance, and our Band play amazing tunes! Pop some popcorn, and tune in from 5-9 PM Wednesday night!
Your PTO is holding a general meeting on Thursday via Zoom at 7PM. Please register in advance at this link: Join our Cloud HD Video Meeting now Meeting ID: 886 0988 4322/Password: 452167

Community Mother’s Day Card Drive
In celebration of Mother’s Day 2020, The Coronado Recreation Department is asking Coronado school children to hand make a Mother’s Day Card this May for a mom or grandmother who is all alone. These cards will be delivered or mailed to someone who lives alone or lives or works in a nursing home, assisted living facility or hospital.
When making the card, be creative; be thoughtful; be heartfelt. Write a sentiment inside that is appropriate for a mom, mother-to-be, grandmother, aunt, friend’s mom, mother-in-law or “someone who is like a mother.”
This act of kindness will recognize moms who children may not be around to share their love. Plus, all of us can use an extra hug right now! This is a simple way to make a big difference with an incredible impact! Encourage your friends' and neighbors' children to make a card too even if they are preschoolers or teens.
Send your handmade card now in an unsealed envelope, that you put in a larger envelope to mail it to the:
City of Coronado
1845 Strand Way
Coronado, CA 92118
Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 10, 2020 so send your card today.
Any questions, contact the Coronado Call Center at (619) 522-6380.

Telethon is one of Coronado Schools Foundation’s largest fundraising events of the year, and all proceeds raised through Telethon go directly back to our schools to fund the STEM and Arts Pathways programs impacting the education of every child enrolled in our district. We ask our business partners, community members, donors, and colleagues to work strategically with us to ensure that our rescheduled Telethon is again another exceptional success for our schools. If you feel compelled to give at this time, visit csfkids.org/telethon and click on DONATE. All donations will be acknowledged LIVE on air.
Coronado Schools Foundation’s mission is to raise and manage funds to provide exceptional learning experiences for all Coronado Unified School District students. We thank you for your partnership in this time of public uncertainty and applaud each one of you for continuing your commitment to the educational enrichment of our children.
CAUGHT BEING AWESOME!
As our educators, parents, and community come together to connect, challenge and champion our students during our district closure, we are humbled by the outpouring of compliments during these trying times. What a positive testament to our CUSD family!
Click here to recognize a student, family member, employee, or volunteer who goes above and beyond to make a difference. Those who are "caught" will receive a copy of the positive words that were shared about them and a "Caught Being Awesome" decal. Please take a minute or two to brighten someone else's day!
The blue crosswalk in the middle of the dropoff/pickup area is reserved for use by school community members with disabilities during our busiest times. If you park to walk into school with your child, please use the crosswalk by Strand Hall.
When dropping off or picking up your students, please stay to the right. The left lane is for parking and is not safe for passing, except when directed by school staff/crossing guard in the afternoons.
