Coin Drive

Our school is participating in a coin drive called the All for Books Coin-a-day Challenge.

Our school will use the donations to purchase books for the Adams Library.

Children can bring in change to the containers in their classroom, or the lobby. There will be a goal chart in the lobby with updated daily totals!

• Penny Monday-Oct 21st

• Nickel Tuesday-Oct 22nd

• Dime Wednesday-Oct 23rd

• Quarter Thursday-Oct 24th

• Any Coin or Bill Friday-Oct 25th

If you have loose coins hiding under couch cushions, floor mats, in pants pockets, or the bottom of your bag, put them to good use by giving students more access to books they’ll love to read! We will continue to collect money for our All for Books campaign, throughout the Book Fair.

Scholastic will match the money we raise and donate books to kids in need!

Staff Appreciation

Fall conferences are coming—and that means our first Staff Appreciation event is, too! We have a lot planned for the week, so please take a minute to look through all of the available spots to help us show the Adams staff how much we appreciate them!

Any questions? Please contact Staff Appreciation Coordinator, Katie Slayden

Pe and wellness news

Every class had experience with the PACER. It's an aerobic capacity test that starts slowly and gradually becomes more difficult. Students shuttle back and forth across 20 meters following the beeps on a CD tract. For K-2 students, we do the PACER for the experience, because it is a great exercise, and it teaches them to feel confident about their efforts. For students 3-5, students start tracking their accomplishments and improvements. We do an official PACER 3-4 times a year, but we practice informally about once a month. Your child's teacher sent home their recent PACER score, or they are saving it for conferences. Students also did a Tabata-style exercise, 20 seconds on and 10 seconds off, through a series of different challenges. Grades 3-5 played a chase game called "Odd Person Out" and throw/catch game called "Toss Three." Students in K-2 played "Caution Tag Stomp" and a milder version of "Toss Three."

Congrats to the Adams students who participated in the Cheldelin Cougar Classic Elementary Mile on 10/17. Congrats to the entire Adams community for taking on the 12th Annual Autumn Amble on Friday the 18th. Next Thursday, the 24th, is Open Gym/Open Hallways. The entire school is open for play, including the hallways. Join in the fun AND visit the Book Fair's opening night. The 24th will also be the first AIM Class Challenge to see which class can have the most participants on the AIM path. Plan ahead: the week of January 13-17 is Bring Your Parents to PE Week. Join your child during PE class and have some fun.

Now at Adams: OBOB (Oregon Battle of the Books) a state-wide fall/winter event for 3rd - 5th graders. Students have formed their teams and should return their parent/guardian permission slips by Monday, October 21st. OBOB is needing volunteers to work with student teams for 30 minutes a week from November to early February (you pick the day). Please visit to volunteer. For more information please ask the office or contact Tracy Erwin, or visit

Student Success Act Survey

The Student Success Act marks a turning point for education in Oregon. When fully implemented, our state will see an additional $1 billion investment in schools each year. This investment will provide new opportunities for every student in our state, particularly students who have been historically underserved.

You have an important role to play. We need your input to help develop a plan to best meet the needs of our students and our community.

Box Tops

We're a Box Tops school!

Each Box Top clip is worth 10 cents...and they add up! There are now 2 ways to collect and donate Box Tops. Box Tops for Education is going digital, and in the transition they are accepting both clips and scans.

If your package has a traditional Box Top clip, cut it off and send it into school.

If your package has a Scan Your Receipt Box Top, download the free Box Tops for Education App, set your school for Adams Elementary School, and scan your grocery receipts. It's fast and easy!

Loyalty Programs

Did you know that you could support Adams when you shop? It's true!

The AmazonSmile Foundation donates 0.5% of purchases to an organization you designate. Please support Adams by selecting Adams Parents Association when you visit

Fred Meyer

Fred Meyer Community Rewards allows you to link your reward card to an organization of your choice. To link your card to Adams, login in to your account online or visit the customer service counter in store.

Grocery Outlet

If you plan to shop at our local Grocery Outlet, stop by the Office and grab a card to bring shopping with you. Show it at checkout and they will then donate 3% of your purchases to Adams.

Volunteer training

Interested in Volunteering at Adams?

Please contact and attend a monthly training

The next one is Monday October 28th 12:30-1:00 pm

We will cover how to use the copier and laminating machine and general school information and then if you are interested you can also have a library orientation and training if you would like to help in the library too. November and December dates to be announced, so watch for that! You must have completed the online volunteer application with background check online prior to volunteering (available on the school website).
