FROM MRS. FIELDS
I love to get feedback from our Hershey parents! While you are welcome to visit or call any time, I realize that this may be difficult for parents who work during the day.. Now it is easier than ever to voice questions or concerns by using “Drop Ox”! This is a free web service used for creating anonymous online suggestions. Simply go to this website: https://www.suggestionox.com/r/Hershey and drop me a line or two!
2015 ISTEP+ results are now available. A parent letter outlining how to access student scores was sent home on Tuesday, November 3. If you have misplaced this letter or if you need assistance accessing your child’s scores, you will need to call the Indiana Parent Network number at 1-800-481-4769 between the hours of 9:00 am and 6:00 pm. You will be required to answer security questions to authenticate your relationship to the child prior to being given the access the code. At this time, the school will not have access to the parent code information.
We also wanted to let you know that across the State of Indiana, most parents are seeing that their child's score may be significantly lower than in past years. This is because of raising the standard through this new type of college and career readiness test, and the new style of questions - such as tech enhanced items - that students are less familiar with. We know from other tests that have been given that students are still growing and learning. Please continue to work closely with your child’s teachers to ensure that your child continues to perform to his or her fullest potential.
Attached in the email with this newsletter is a 'Letter to the Editor' written by the 3 Superintendents of Tippecanoe County.
We had a wonderful tribute to Hershey family Veterans on Monday, November 9! We offer our sincerest gratitude to all of these amazing men and women who have served and are serving our country!
MRS. LEHMAN'S UPDATES AND INFORMATION
Wreaths Across America-What a wonderful way for Hershey to honor our Veteran's. Your child brought home an information sheet and an (optional) order form for Wreaths Across America. We will be collecting order forms until November 20th. If you have questions, please contact me. Check out the website: www.wreathsacrossamerica.org
BackPack Program: Hershey has a wonderful program to assist families, who qualify, with extra food for the week. The food is packed in backpacks and sent home weekly. This program can save families $100's a year. Student Council would like to help keep this beneficial program going by having a fundraiser starting NOV. 23rd and ending NOV. 25th. We will have a fun competition between classes....let's see which class can donate the most change to our back pack program. It's a good feeling to help other Hershey families. If you are interested in volunteering your time to work with the Backpack Program, please, let me know! Your time is so helpful.
