Weekly Update
We had our first snow day of the year! I hope you were all able to get out and build a snow man and enjoy the almost 10 inches of snow we had! A big shout out to our custodial team, Devin Larson and Morgan McGuire for getting our campus cleared and safe for our return.
We are still looking for new, unwrapped gift for our giving tree. We will be collecting items through December 9th.
Please remember to write your child's name in their coats, hats, and gloves. Our lost and found is exploding. We will have the lost and found out from again during school hours. Please stop by to check it out. All items left on December 16th will get donated. We are also looking for hanger donations for the lost and found. If you have any plastic hangers, you don't need, please send them in. Thank you!
Grades 3-5 SBA Results are in Skyward
Family Score Reports for students who took the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) in Reading & Math last spring are now available to view in Skyward. Directions for viewing and accessing these reports are as follows:
Zones of Regulation
This week, students will continue to work to identify situations that cause them to shift zones. For example, when my birthday party is after school and I am so excited, I may be in the red zone with excitement for much of the day. Or if my grown-ups are out of town, I may be in the blue zone and have a hard time focusing. When I can identify my zone and the cause, it helps me find tools that help me regulate. It also helps me take the perspective of others. Be sure to ask your falcon when they feel each zone and what tools they use to be able to regulate.
Attendance
An unexcused absence is when a student is absent from school, and the parent or guardian has not called to inform the school of the reason for the absence. An excused absence is when a student is absent from school, and you communicate with the office.
You can call and leave a message with a reason for the absence 24 hours a day at (360) 829-3355 or email at mclay@whiteriver.wednet.edu
Active Learner
Our character trait of the month for December and January is Active Learner.
An Active Learner looks like focusing on the speaker: eyes on, body still, listening ears.
It means you are ignoring distractions around you.
You take ownership of your learning.
You don't give up, even when it is hard, also called perseverance.
