Principal's Message
As the weather turns cold and we have some time, it is always a good practice to stop and reflect. It has been an amazing year where our students have show strength and resilience and they continue to grow and learn. This is a month where being thankful is a message that is not to be overlooked. Gratitude is a habit that supports the brain and community. There are many ways to express gratitude, but as we head into the well deserved break, I wanted to take some time and share what we at Lietz are grateful for this November.
We are grateful for our students who come everyday and give us their best, trust us with their struggles, and share their celebrations. They are problem solvers, respectful, wise and kind and continue to contribute to our amazing community!
We are grateful for our teachers and staff. These amazing individuals come and share part of themselves every day to encourage and equip each and every one of our students. They work hard and celebrate each child who comes through the gates of this school. From the office staff, to yard duties, to teachers and therapist, the adults here at Lietz go above and beyond for our students and each contribute in important ways to our students' achievement and wellbeing.
We are also grateful to the parents and caring adults whop create an outstanding partnership for our students. Each family brings a unique and valued perspective and is a gift to the community.
We are grateful to our volunteers and HSC leaders, our LLI reading intervention teachers and those volunteering to keep kids engaged and safe at lunch time and after school. You enthusiastically contribute and all of our students benefit from the work that you do.
I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving break and I hope you take time to appreciate each other and share what they do that you are grateful for!
Sincerely,
Ms. Leamons
November PAWS Recognition
Lunch Time Enrichment
Our Lego Club has been a huge hit and has provided a wonderful place for students to come during lunch. We will be expanding our Lunch opportunities to include a knitting club on Fridays starting when we return next week.
Having our library open to provide a place for students to come and gather is a wonderful benefit to all of the students on campus.
We already have 2 more requests for clubs in need of volunteer facilitators. If you are available on Tuesdays or Thursdays to facilitate a drawing club or board games club (we have plenty of games on campus), please reach out to Ms. Leamons as we would love to be able to facilitate these student requests!
Vonteers Needed For Winter Workshop
We still have some open volunteer slots for the Winter Workshop on Thursday, December 8th.
Please check for your child’s grade level time slot and sign up for the corresponding shift. If you have more than one child at Lietz, please feel free to sign up for multiple shifts. If you have any questions, please reach out to board@lietzhsc.com.
Thank you for helping us make this a special day for all the kids!

Book Fair - November 28th - December 1st
We are excited to have the book fair moving into the Library all next week. This is a fantastic way for students to choose books they love and add to your home library. In addition, there will be opportunities to contribute to the classroom libraries. Please come and enjoy reading with your students!
To find more information, or to shop online starting November 28th, visit the Lietz book fair website.
The fair requires a number of volunteers, before, during and after the event.

Meals Funding Form Still Available
Completing a school meals/funding form is crucial to school funding. For every student who applies and qualifies for free or reduced-price meals, the school receives additional money from state and federal grants. This includes increased funding for school programs, technology, counseling services, and equipment for school kitchens.
Families who qualify for free or reduced may also be eligible for free or reduced cost internet, free or reduced cost childcare, and more! Your application helps your child and many others.
Applying online is the fastest way to submit an application form. All online applications are secure, private and processed within 24 hours.

Grant Funding
The Lietz Home and School Club is investigating the possibility of supplementing funding for our enrichment programs through grants aimed at schools and educational non-profits. We are looking for parent volunteers who have experience in researching, writing and requesting education grants and could be of assistance to the Lietz HSC board in navigating these new opportunities.
If you have any experience and would be interested in volunteering, please contact the Lietz HSC board at board@lietzhsc.com.
Support Schools and Students - Consider Being a Substitute Teacher
