Principal's Weekly Update
November 10th, 2023
Dear Parent(s)/ Guardian(s):
Madison Middle School was truly and deeply honored to host some Veterans on Friday. During grade level assemblies, Veterans from Trumbull (or with Trumbull connections) shared their stories about their service in our armed forces. Our students learned of the sacrifices which these individuals have made in the name of patriotic duty– and were fascinated to hear some first hand accounts of their time in the military. This Madison Veteran’s Day celebration is always a very special event– we are pleased to offer our students a chance to learn more about their hometown heroes.
It was nice to see so many of you on Thursday for our second round of Parent/Teacher Conferences. Please know that you can always reach out to a teacher or team leader if you would like to arrange for a time to talk or to set up a meeting. Ongoing communication between teachers and parents is such an important key to student success. In the month of March we conduct Student Led Conferences-- we will provide more information about them as that date gets closer. Students work throughout the year to create an electronic portfolio which they share with parents/guardians on that day.

You may recognize the enlarged photo below from last year around this same time. It is our "Wall of Honor" which we created in remembrance and thanks for family members and friends who have served in our military. If you zoom in/look carefully at the bottom center picture, you will see my own father, Peter Sullivan, Sr. who served in the army from 1962-64 and was stationed in what was then West Germany. As a form of "show and tell" at the beginning of the assembly, I displayed his army duffle bag, which he has held onto all this time, and which he recently handed over to me. It is an important symbol to me of his military service. I hope that you all have a great weekend and I extend my gratitude to any of your friends or family members who have served our country.
Take care,
Peter Sullivan
