LVUSD Seeking Community Representatives for Curriculum Council
The Las Virgenes Unified School District is seeking applicants who reside within the district’s attendance area to serve on LVUSD’s Curriculum Council. Four positions are available, each for a two-year term ending in June 2021.
The deadline for accepting applications is Friday, June 28. We are seeking candidates who have a strong interest in curriculum and instruction as well as a commitment to supporting the social-emotional needs of our students. A background in education is preferred, but not a prerequisite for applying.
This is a volunteer position that requires your availability for a monthly meeting for the duration of the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years. For those interested in applying, please click the following link for the application: Curriculum Council Application 2019.
As the School Year Ends, #LVReads Begins!
Our annual #LVReads initiative has officially launched, and we encourage all families to engage in the program this summer through one or more of the following:
These lists are organized by interest and reading level. We can allow students to check books out of your school library over the summer and have ordered our #LVReads titles for each site. LVUSD will also have special displays at Barnes and Noble in Westlake or Calabasas with information on our summer reading programs available to our families.
We have created a community calendar that outlines all of the events being held in our local libraries.
We encourage families to showcase reading via our social media challenge! All can participate by posting pictures that celebrate reading and tagging LVUSD at #LVReads on FB, Instagram and Twitter. There will be a prize drawing for participation.
We will be offering Read-Alouds at Barnes and Noble on Saturdays from June 29 to August 17 from 2-3, alternating between the WLV and Calabasas locations. We have joined forces with Barnes and Noble for a community program where students can read eight books and earn a brand new book.
