2 Day Hybrid Mode Update January 12, 2021
Good Evening Rock Bridge Families,
Last night the CPS Board of Education made the decision that all secondary students would return to school on January 19th in a 2-Day Hybrid Mode. I will be sending frequent communication this week in BRIDGE format dedicated entirely to updating our families on COVID 19 related changes to procedures and structures at Rock Bridge High School. We know you are eager to hear what changes will be in place for your safety. While there are still some things to figure out, we will be ready to welcome back our students, in the safest environment we can provide, on the 19th. Continue checking your email and our website for updates.
Below you can find up-to-date information about the following:

2-Day Hybrid Mode Explained
The 2-day hybrid for middle school, high school and Career Center students divides the student population in half, to achieve physical distancing in our classrooms. Students in Group 1 will receive in-person instruction on Monday and Tuesday and Group 2 will learn from home. Students in Group 2 will receive in-person instruction on Thursday and Friday and Group 1 will learn from home. Learning from home will include a zoom check-in component for each class period, with the remaining class time used to complete online curriculum with limited teacher interaction. On Wednesdays, all students will have assigned work to complete, but will not have live teacher instruction.

COVID and Alternating Unassigned Time (AUT)
Hello Rock Bridge Bruins and parents and welcome to 2nd Semester!
My name is Dr. Darlene Grant. I am an assistant principal at Rock Bridge and the person listed as the "teacher" for your AUT . I wanted to share with you basic information about AUT as we prepare to return to in-seat learning.
Most of you already know that during regular, in-seat learning, AUT stands for “Alternating Unassigned Time”. RBHS offers an unassigned time as an alternative to the traditional study hall. Its purpose is to allow sophomore, junior and senior students flexibility in structuring their non-class time and to establish an environment of trust and respect in which students can learn time management. During AUT, students may access counseling, teacher/tutor support, cafeteria services, etc. During this time, there is also limited access to the Media Center by appointment when space is available.
Below are basic guidelines for students assigned to an AUT:
- 10th grade students are to remain on campus during AUT.
- 11th and 12th grade students are able to leave campus if they have the permission of a parent/guardian. They must have a parental permission form on file. The AUT permission form can be found by following this link: https://forms.gle/sV6HorSFx9rGHFRc8. It can also be found on the RBHS website.
- Students who have permission to leave campus are encouraged to do so if they feel this is appropriate.
- Students who have 2nd or 3rd period AUT must sign out at the North or Main entrance before leaving the building. They are not required to sign back in when they return.
- Students who have an AUT during 1st or 4th period DO NOT need to sign in or out. They will be assigned to “Release Time” during these periods.
- Students who remain in the building are required to find a consistent location with a consistent group and remain in this location for the duration of their AUT.
- Students will not be able to access classrooms they are not assigned to during their AUT.
- If a student should need to access a teacher on their plan period, they should make an appointment.
- Much like lunch, tables and benches will be placed throughout the building. Please do not move tables or chairs from their location.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions. I can be reached at (573) 214-3100 or via email.
Best,
Dr. Darlene Grant

COVID and Arrival to School
Please view the video below titled "RBHS AM Arrival SY2..." for detailed instructions. This video also does a good job of showing the difference between Student, Visitor, and Faculty parking.
COVID and Dismissal from School
New to RBHS? Walk Your Schedule Before Tuesday!
- Friday, January 15 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the East and North Entrances
- Saturday, January 16 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the East and North Entrances
You can find your Quarter 3 (R3) schedule in Home Access. We will not have student schedules available at the building during these sessions, so you will need to bring a copy with you or bring your computer. We will have copies of maps available at our North and East Entrances. You can also click on the link below to view our classroom map. We are asking that visitors are limited to a single parent/guardian per student. All visitors will be required to wear masks and remain physically distanced from other visitors.
Please be aware that this is not an organized tour. While we would love to provide this level of service, we are limited in staff availability. We plan to have staff greeters at both our North and East Entrances.
If you are unable to make it to either of these sessions, be sure to view the video below titled "RB Walkthrough Final..." to get a basic understanding of our layout. We promise this will all make sense after just a few days of going to classes and being in our building!
Student Parking at Rock Bridge
Students are allowed to drive and park at RBHS prior to being issued a parking permit. Students are required to park in the North Parking Lot or spaces in the South Lot with a yellow bear painted in the spot. You can watch the video above titled "RBHS AM Arrivl SY2..." to see the exact locations for student parking on Rock Bridge Campus. We will let you know when and where we will be handing parking passes out at RBHS, through the InfoBruin, a later Bridge Communications, and at school.
The first step to get your parking pass is to submit an application online. This can be found by going to Rock Bridge homepage, and clicking on Parking Pass Information, under “Important Information for back to school during Covid”, or clicking the link at the bottom of this section. We will also need a copy of your student’s driver’s license and proof of insurance for the vehicle they will be driving. Unfortunately, we cannot accept digital copies of these at this time. They must be mailed or copies need to be delivered in person by students when we are ready to collect them. If you have already submitted an online application, please double check that you have mailed in these 2 items. We have many students missing these and cannot hand out parking passes without them.
