Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students
Introducing our new School Counsellor-Erin Donahue.
I am pleased to let you know that we have secured a school counsellor to work with us one day per week. Erin works with Central Health medical practise and is based at Southside Family Health Centre. We believe she will be a great asset to our team.
Each Thursday, beginning 8 February, Erin will work at school to provide counselling for students. The school has a budget this year to assist in part payments of counselling services and we have secured a good consultancy price with the providers to make it more accessible for all. If you would like to seek further information about counselling for your child please contact your child's teacher or one of the management team who can assist you. Erin has a strong background in counselling across a number of areas. Please read her bio (below) to find out more.
Erin Donahue has 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents and parents as a mental health professional both in the school setting and outpatient therapy. She has played an active role in the Special Education Departments of schools, as well as crisis and wellness teams, giving her a unique opportunity to work with a diverse population of needs and circumstances. Erin has also worked at a clinic as a counsellor with young people in a range of fields. This includes support in areas of social skills, anxiety and depression, stress, behavioural issues, grief, separation and/or or changing family circumstances.
Erin takes a systems approach to counselling, applying behavioural strategies and a variety of goal-oriented treatments and approaches. She works with children of all ages to help them with their social, emotional, and behavioural skills. Her main clientele is made up of children, adolescents, and parents.
Erin earned a Master’s degree in Education in School Counselling at the University of Massachusetts Boston and has obtained a post-graduate certificate in the area of Mental Health at Cambridge College in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Finding about about your child’s progress
The mid year reports will be available to access online on Monday 29 January from 3pm. If you have any questions or queries please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher. For Years 4-6, the hard copy results of the International School Assessments (ISA) will also be sent home in your child’s diary on this day. A summary of these results can also be found on Gateway when accessing the reports.
Most of you will be very familiar with accessing reports online. As a reminder, to locate your child’s report on Gateway once you have logged in, click on ARR Report (the button is located under your child's photo) and choose Mid Year Report 2017 - 2018

A parent recently shared this article ‘Why are kids impatient, bored, friendless, and entitled?’ with me and felt that it resonated with her.
Having rather a controversial title I think it will get your attention!
As with all of these types of articles, it’s just one person’s point of view, but interesting all the same.
ESF/Glenealy Calendar for 2018/19
Please note that this calendar is now formalised, although until the Government confirms the public holidays it is considered to be a draft. We’ve received feedback in the past that CPD days (teacher training days) allocated as an extension to holidays work best for families. Therefore we have tried to achieve this in the new calendar. We hope this eliminates the need to have children out of school during term time. If booking your holidays for the next academic year, please refer closely to this calendar.
Regards
Brenda
