Sand Ridge "Shark Bites" Update
August 29, 2021 - Issue #2
Thank you for a WONDERFUL first week of school! The start of the school year at Sand Ridge Elementary has been fabulous! With the exception of delays related to car pool and buses, we have seen very few hiccups in establishing our daily routines. I am so excited to be able to walk the halls and hear the "noise" of students and teachers building relationships and establishing the routines that will carry them through the year.
I hope that you will read all the way through this newsletter. Information about opportunities for parents to help and to get involved are noted below, as well as reminders about drop-off and dismissal and upcoming events.
Looking forward to a terrific week with our Sharks, where "Everyday is Shark-tastic!"

Transportation reminders
As the week progressed, our dismissal time lessened and things went a little more smoothly. We will not have any students being walked to class beginning on Monday, so all students should enter through carpool or be riding on a school bus. Just a few reminders about our procedures.
Due to the bus driver shortage, several buses are doubled-up or have multiple routes. Parents of students impacted by these adjustments have been notified.
Our doors open at 8:00 am. Carpool drop-off will be in the large side lot. Please follow the cones. Mr. Henderson will be outside directing traffic. No car rider students may enter through the front entrance of the school until the carpool line is closed for the morning. This entrance is for bus riders only. The car pool line ends when the tardy bell rings at 8:20 or when there are no more cars in line. Students coming through the carpool line are not marked tardy even if it is past 8:20 am. Once the carpool line is closed, students accompanied by a parent, should enter through the front entrance to be signed in as tardy.
Buses will unload and load in the front lot and that entrance is restricted to bus traffic during entry and dismissal times. Parents having business with the office should speak with a staff member monitoring buses and will be escorted to the office.
Carpool dismissal is also in the large side lot, with the same procedures in place. Parents are asked to please have both the placard and ID handy. In the event that you need additional placards, please notify the office.
Early check-outs end at 3:00 pm to allow teachers and students to pack-up and complete their day with minimal confusion.
ALL transportation changes MUST be made in writing. We do not accept phone changes or email changes. This is to guarantee our students' safety at all times.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions you have.
